I Miss You Every Day by Simms Taback

What do you do when you miss someone every day? If you live in the eloquently magical world of Simms Taback, you wrap yourself in paper, close yourself up in a box (don't forget the air holes!) and mail yourself to the one you love. From the creator of the Caldecott Medal-winning Joseph Had a Little Overcoat comes this tale about what a little girl will do to reach the person she just can't live without. Filled with Taback's signature vibrant colors and dynamic characters, with a lyrical text that's as silly as it is moving, this gesture of love will resonate with anyone who's ever missed someone.

We LOVE this book and have bought it for all of our family and even some friends 'whoever our two-year old is missing'. It's a beatiful rhyming tale that our son has practically memorized from reading so much. We tuck a little picture of our son and the recipient in the envelope that's inside the front cover and that's a huge hit in itself. My sister tells me that our three-year old nephew, who lives across the country, loves to pull out the photo each time he reads the story and point out on the illustration that he lives in a house in Denver and his cousin lives in an apartment in New York City.
