In this short short story, Special Agent Trent Johansen finds himself reassigned to the Phoenix Field Office because he is just too good at his job for his own good, or so he liked to tell himself. The truth is he was reassigned because he either pissed off the right people or pissed off the wrong people. It did not matter him one way or the other. His first case assignment in Phoenix is to investigate wacko nut-jobs that are pretty sure aliens have infiltrated us without anyone knowing. Johansen gets started on the case and then discovers things that he cannot explain. He discovers things that he cannot ignore. He falls in love with his cooperating witness and then, just like that, his reputation, his professional career, and his life become his worst nightmare.

Van Allen Fiction by Screaming Weasel Productions is my latest work. I'm a former Captain in the US Marines who now writes thrillers and futuristic adventures, including stories with conspiracy theories, alien invasions, space wars, and of course the zombie apocalypse. In my 21-year military career, I developed expertise in both combat training early on and then criminal investigations later on. While in the Marines, I completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and a Masters in Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Originally from Houston, Texas and currently residing in Frisco, Texas, I fancy myself a secret physics, statistics, and data nerd.
