This book is not about NDEs. It's about a suicide attempt, the mental healthcare system, the aftermath for the family and friends, and one man's ability to re-invent himself to live a full and happy life. The book is funny and poignant, and very well-written (with the exception of some weird typos like "lye" for "lie" - that's a mistake made every time that word is used)...nitpicking aside, it's a very good read. As someone who has worked in mental hospitals and who also battles depression as a client, I found myself nodding in agreement with much of what he wrote. To read the author's journey from suicidal to triumphant is uplifting, and I am really glad he is still around to continue to blog and write comedy for others. It's a great book to lift your spirits without being maudlin or stupid. Highly recommend! Oh and check out his website, you'll enjoy it.
