I Witness

Dr. Mike Peabody has always conquered life on his own terms. A battle-forged Marine, a razor-sharp ER physician, and a relentless MMA warrior, he's defined himself by discipline, dominance, and denial of anything he can't control-including God. But when he encounters the Shroud of Turin-an ancient relic steeped in mystery and believed by many to be burial cloth of Jesus-everything begins to unravel. What starts as mere curiosity turns existential after a near-death experience propels him into the dust and fire of first-century Jerusalem. There, Mike witnesses the crucifixion. The stone rolled away. The linen that once held the body of a man who claimed to be God.

Mike's unshakable worldview begins to crack, and when he returns to find a different world than the one he left behind he realizes the effect one person can have on the future of mankind. Burdened with new divine awareness he learns to trust in God, but he is still plagued by one impossible question: Was it real? Or was it a dream?

Mike is about to learn that his journey has just begun, because this time it isn't a fight for survival in the ring of life, it's a fight for his soul.

About the Author

Pat Patterson is a paramedic, photographer, and lifelong student of the Holy Shroud of Turin. While studying at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara during the late 1970s, he served as an assistant to Professor Vernon Miller, Chief Scientific Photographer for the Shroud of Turin Research Project (STURP). Working closely with Miller and other members of the STURP team, Pat contributed to several foundational studies on the Shroud, including research into art history, fluorescence, the effects of direct bodily contact on image formation, and computerized 3D imaging. Pat lectures frequently on the trauma evident in the Shroud, with an emphasis on the profound suffering endured by the man seen on its fibers. Now retired and living in Raleigh, North Carolina, Pat devotes his time to writing, weaving his experiences and spiritual passion into powerful, thought-provoking novels.
