Identity by Shawna Seed

New job. New town. New life.

Risky Business is big at the box office, Journey is on the radio, and Sharlah Webbs luck is finally turning.

Or she thinks it is, until the day she comes home from her waitressing job to find police cars in her driveway and her boyfriend, Brian Lowry, in jail on drug charges.

Suddenly, shes got all kinds of trouble. Shes broke, Brians family blames her for his arrest, and a hurricane is bearing down on their Texas Gulf Coast town.

Even worse, Brian refuses to cooperate with the police and wont tell her why. It soon becomes clear that his secrets have put them both in jeopardy.

As the danger grows, so does Sharlahs confusion. Is Brian not the man she thought he was? Can she trust the police? Brians family?

Should she stay put, or flee the approaching storm?

Smart and self-reliant, Sharlah embarks on her own search for answers. Then one fateful decision launches a mystery that will take years to unravel.

Identity: A novel of suspense, love and finding your true self.

In this engaging mystery, author Shawna Seed delivers authentic characters and an intriguing story. You can't help but pull for Sharlah, who has found love and a new life after a childhood of poverty and abuse. Her boyfriend Brian fights his own demons as he tries to find his path apart from a family he can't ever seem to please. However, their hard-won happiness is shattered when Brian is unexpectedly arrested. As a hurricane sweeps in from the Gulf, people begin dying, questions multiply, and the reader is completely caught up in both the characters and the mystery. The author seamlessly transitions between three different points of view and firmly anchors her story in time and place with authentic details. Identity is a quick read - mainly because you can't put it down - but the story and the characters stay with you. Highly recommended.

190 pages. Great story concept but put together with years of gaps that make it disjointed. Figured out the main culprit very early as behavior told the tale. Ending was horrible. It was like the author wrote the story before it was fully formulated and fleshed out. Sad because it could have been really good.

Loved the book but hated the ending. I'm not sure if there is going to be a second book if not it will leave you hanging. The book was quick reading, however, I would not recommend it because of the way it ended. Kept looking to see ifsome of the pages were missing.

I could not put this book down. From the first chapter, I was pulled in. So many questions and I couldn't get to the answers fast enough. I loved this book! Highly recommended.

Riveting mystery that kept me glued from the start! As the novel progressed, I found myself continually wondering and anxiously waiting to see what twist would come next.  It left me anticipating the release of her next novel - Soon, I hope!
