If It Makes You Healthy: More Than 100 Delicious Recipes Inspired by the Seasons by Sheryl Crow, Chuck White, Mary Goodbody

Known as much for her youthful looks and natural chic as she is for her sunny and heartfelt songs, Sheryl has written a cookbook that is true to her style

Rock star. Activist. Mother of two. How does Sheryl Crow have time to keep so healthy and fit? Sheryl knows how to eat right and deliciously thanks to personal chef Chuck White, affectionately known as "Chef Chuck." The duo met while Sheryl was battling breast cancer, which for her, was a wake-up call to eat better. Since then, Chuck has taught Sheryl how to do just that by cooking foods that are seasonal, locally grown, and vitamin-rich to keep her on top of her game and always ready to perform. This wholesome approach to every dish has been successfully integrated into all aspects of Sheryl's busy life—from dinner parties, to touring, to settling in at home near Nashville, TN with her two sons, Wyatt and Levi. Now Sheryl and Chuck want to bring their nutritious, delicious creations from her kitchen into yours.
Rock-and-roll flavored throughout, If It Makes You Healthy will have a full menu of approximately 125 recipes grouped seasonally, which reflects Sheryl's busy schedule: Summer months offer tomatoes and corn, and summer also puts Sheryl on the road. Fall and winter brings apples and winter squash, when Sheryl is at home and in the studio. From the big entertaining menus that are prepared for her crew while touring (Mojito braised pork) to small home-cooked meals for Sheryl and her children (basil and apple marinated chicken)—all lushly photographed by Victoria Pearson—this book will be filled with easy and flavorful recipes anyone can make. Along the way, Sheryl opens up about touring and home life with stories about her childhood, her early years as a backup singer, and her eventual stardom.

I bought this book as a gift - and have since purchased it 3 more times as gifts - and one for myself. I'm not big on famous people making cook books, but I was intrigued by Sheryl being a breast cancer survivor. I love the stories and tips and the information on cancer fighting foods. I've made about 10 recipes so far. The recipes are relatively easy to follow - however, some are not precise. I prefer to be told 1 tblsp of lime juice rather than "juice from half of a lime." The food has turned out really really good and I've been very pleased with that. Even my kids (ages 5 and 3) eat the foods from this cookbook. So, my 2 cents are - This is one "famous person cookbook" I'm very glad I own.

This is a cookbook like none other. While not having the same boring dishes I'm used to, the meals in here are original, but EASY to prepare. It isn't super fancy like many new cookbooks out today, but they have a lot of my faves (BLT, Cobb salad, grilled cheese and tomato soup, etc.) and make them healthier and in fact tastier too! I just made the "Fried Green Tomato BLT" sandwiches for my relatives this past weekend and they were a HIT! Best of all, we get a bunch of really valuable tips throughout the book from Sheryl Crow's nutritionist Rachel Beller in section's called "Rachel's Tip." The first thing I did was skim through the pages and read all of these tips, and I'm so glad I did (I really would've paid for these tips). I already feel healthier!

The recipes taste really awesome. Fried green tomato blt, watermelon margraitas, Chuck's creme fraiche, Grilled sweet corn soup w/garlic popcorn, lime-kissed stuffed avocados, Plus all the helpful tips from Rachel. Good tips about meat and cocoa. I also bought this book for my unhealthy eating mother. Sheryl's story is inspirational and encouraging to eat better. Sheryl looks fabulous and its wonderful she has a super great chef to help. Best Wishes to Sheryl, Chuck W and all of her crew.

Just watched her on Rachel Ray and wanted to see at least one recipe so I could get an idea of hoe they were written, if there were pictures, and how complex. Did not want to read about her and look at family pictures. If you want to sell a cookbook uou need to have at least one sample. Will not purchase withiut seeing. Even mail outs give you a sample.

I love Sheryl Crow and was looking forward to see at least one recipe to see if it would be something I would be interested in. However alot of stories no recipies. Sorry won't buy a book unless I can see a recipe or two.
