The author quotes tons of lines from the movie Sweet Home Alabama and even copies many exact scenes from.the movie! After reading 2 of her other books where the main.character has the exact same background and stoty and now this one where she copies the entire movie, I'm thinkimg she has no.original thoughts of her own!
Ms. James has once again woven a delightful tale constructed from the very thread of human experience. While the story follows Callie Henshaw’s struggle as a young fashion designer, the entire novel is set against the backdrop of the elaborate wedding of Lilac and Finn, two celebratory actors who have invited the entire country to their nuptials. The wedding food, the cake, the flowers, the vocalists, and the band, have individual competitions and Callie’s own creation, an exquisite gown, begs to be entered. Each participant knows if chosen, their career path is set. Callie claims she’s too busy to date, but her friends think differently. When Callie receives the blow of her aunt’s death and learns the dire situation of her aunt’s shop, Gingerberry Yarns, Callie wonders if she should sell. She meets others along the way who were important to her aunt and the small community invested in Allthorpe High Street and its entrepreneurs. Callie discovers the importance of life in a small community and she learns to forgive the love she thought she’d lost. From the description of the sugary delights from the bakery to the exquisite gowns designed by Callie and even the peppermint green paint that graced the walls of Gingerberry’s, Ms. James draws the reader in with vivid descriptions and beautifully executed words.
