About the Author

I was born in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in the suburban outskirts of this amazing city. I love anything paranormal and/or supernatural - seriously I live in Philadelphia! For those of you who don't know, this city is an awesomely haunted place! This healthy paranormal addiction has provided me the motivation to write my first book, "I'll Be Damned."

I graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and I'm currently working on the Anna Wolfe Series.

¿¿¿¿I'll Be Damned by Casey Keen I was given this book in exchange for my honest review, so here goes. While I liked the first 6 chapters, they were incredibly slow. We learn a lot of details, the who's, what's, and when's, but not the why's. This was slightly frustrating, because, I wanted to know. Starting late chapter 6, early chapter 7, we really get into the story. It became fast paced, and I found myself not wanting to put the book down. I was sad to see the book end, and seriously annoyed to have to wait til Fall 2013, to read part 2. ******************************Minor Spoilers********************************************* I'll Be Damned, is about a 29 year old, coffee shop owner, named Anna(The Grand Witch). Déjà Brew, is located in the heart of Savannah, Georgia. Kristy(best friend), works for her, and is always supportive. Anna, has always been different, from other people, and feared by most because of it. Martello(flamboyant friend, who, I loved), who believes in Voodoo, so doesn't mind her oddities. So, when not working at the coffee show, the ladies, hang out with him at his bar Wet Willies. A mysterious man, Valen(werewolf), *purring* who is unbelievably hot, walks in the coffee shop, one day, and things become even stranger than normal. Later, Kristy tries to set her up with Shane(minion of The Prince of Darkness), *fanning self* another muscle bond hottie. Next breath taking male to enter, is Roman(warlock) *panting*. Cue stage right, Micah(Prince of Darkness),*blushing* appears, yet another, sexy male. Awe, poor Anna, whatever are you to do, with so many ripped abs and disappearing v's. All these mesmerizing, gorgeous males, chasing after you. You poor thing. Her whole life has been leading up to this, but it is only beginning to become clear. She must now prepare for the Ball of the Netherworlds. It will be held on Devil's Night, also her 30th birthday. This had better go right, or all Hell will break lose. ******************************End Spoilers********************************************* I really did enjoy this book. Although, through all this talk of shadows in the dark, I think I might start to fear the night. Haha, not really, but I bet, I watch the shadows a bit closer, for awhile. As I got to the end, I couldn't help but think, "Well, I'll Be Damned," that Casey Keen, pulled me into her twisted Netherworld of PNR/UF. *laughs* Yep, pun totally intended. But, now I sit in anticipation, *tapping foot impatiently* for book 2. I would recommend, that you go read it now. And I look forward to a reread closer to the next release. Thanks again, to the author, for letting me enjoy a taste of your world.

What do you get when you mix witches, weres, warlocks, the Prince of Darkness, and other evil minions?  You get a damn good read.  This review won’t contain any spoilers – at least no more than is in the blurb or excerpt.  Anna, the heroine,  is a Grand Witch in progress. She has a hell of a lot to learn in a very short time period. Luckily she has some very talented and handsome males to prepare her for some intense battles. Anna has to save her kidnapped sister and foil the evil plans of the Prince of Darkness. Anna makes a few stumbles along the way as she is very independent, she likes to follow her heart and not her head (Reminds me of Rachel Morgan in the Hallows series by Kim Harrison; which I adore!).  She’s also the owner of a coffee shop called DejaBrew; I love that name! In I’ll Be Damned you get to meet quite a few interesting characters:  Valen, a werewolf; Roman, the warlock; Anna’s best friends, Kristy and Martello; her whole family; and the Prince of Darkness himself, Micah. There are also many netherworld creatures that are introduced.  The author, Casey Keen, weaves a very intricate web with this story.  The complexity of creatures and magic are an intense and refreshing read. I loved how you really get to know Anna.  In fact, most of the characters are very well developed and scenes are vividly painted. In Saved by the Spell things get intense really quick and a lot happens fast.  You also get to know some interesting facts about Anna’s besties, Martello and Kristy.  How far will Anna get in saving her family and the world from the evil plans of the Prince of Darkness?  You’ll have to read for yourself to find out.  I can’t wait for the next book in the Anna Wolfe series!

What if I said I am soooo mad!!! Wanna know why…. BECAUSE I HAVE TO WAIT! This book was a refreshing, fun, adventurous read, and just when I was all serious, it’s the end. LOL Yeah I really liked this one. I know it’s going to be a series, because I will seriously put a cajun hurtin’ on someone if they don’t gimme the rest soon. :) LOL OK, now that I’ve gotten that part out, let’s talk goodies. First, this story starts out with a normal girl. She isn’t anything special, she owns a cool coffee shop in Georgia, she has some pretty cool friends- who made me giggle lots- she has a slightly crazy and unhinged family, but they are sweet… And then one day she starts getting these weird messages that someone is coming for her. AND THEN her world literally spins painfully out of control.  Anna is complicated. I really liked her character, except I swear to God, if she doesn’t get smart and stop making the most STUPID decisions ever, I am going to kick her… yeah ok. LOL First, I like her because she has a normal every day life. She’s insecure from the last bad news dude, but she’s doing her thing with her coffee shop, and she has a fun girl friend who keeps her upbeat, and my favorite is her gay bartending friend who literally made the story for me. I like that she does grow as a character… except… seriously, when people are out to get you, and the person trying to protect you say “stay here”… DO NOT go running off by yourself… like ten times. HAHAHAHA This of course causes lots of actions scenes to come about, but I totally wanted to punch her in the face. She talks about not being the stupid girl in the horror movies she watches, and then she does it. And yet, I can’t find it in myself to dislike her. She’s grown on me, and she’s an interesting character, and I really want her to make it out of her predicament. :)   Valen and Roman are HAWT!!! H-O-TTTTTTT!!! Seriously. I am of course all Team Valen- I mean come on, he’s a werewolf so of course I chose him. BUT, Roman is seriously got a few of my hairs kinked. He’s hot in a totally different way. Valen is the sweet, kind, over protective WOLF, who of course goes hot and cold and I wanna beat him up too. LOL Then Roman is Mr Serious face, who is all about learning the hard way, but dude is like walking Man Candy! GO TEAM VALEN…. BUT I really hope Team Roman gets a good girl :) Maybe Kristi or Janie :)   Then there’s Micah…. Soooo, you know the saying “The devil in the church hat”…. Dude is smoking hot, seriously powerful, and TOTALLY EVIL CRAY CRAY!!! And it only gets worse from there. I have a feeling Lucifer is going to make an appearance soon and I totally can’t wait to see how that’s gunna play out. :) Anyways, the plot- major interesting. I wasn’t expecting that last little twist. And seriously, that ending, you are totally killing me. Well placed cliff hanger. I need some hints soon though. I am very intrigued with how the author writes. It’s easy which makes the flow of the book so much better. I am seriously excited for book two to come out, even if I’m also impatient. I recommend this to anyone who likes paranormals and urban fantasy. It’s got almost everything you could want! 5 WOLFISHLY, MAGICALLY DELICIOUS PAWS!!!

Very interesting read.. a little slow in the beginning but soon Ms. Anna shows that although almost 30 she is stubbbborn!  Anna has a coffee shop... seems more like a recluse but does have a few friends, as any girl probably has gone through, she's had a bad relationship.  She throws herself into work.  Strange things begin to happen as her 30th birthday gets closer, her one sister Cara seems to be acting like a spoiled twit, and her other sister Janie all of sudden wants to hang with her for a bit.. and she's married.   Strange men keep appearing,  her sister Janie disappears and now a man named Valen is basically wanting to move into her house to protect her.  SO much goes on you really need to keep up. ;) I think really my most favorite character is Martello...lol I swear the way she has him chatting in this book sounds just like LaFayette of True Blood.  Its uncanny, but I love it!  Of course I'm at the end of the book and a cliffhanger.. but I will surely read it to see if Anna can prevail!

Reviewed by Melinda Hills for Readers' Favorite Anna Wolfe has spent her entire life feeling different from other people and, at the age of 29, finally learns why in this great read by Casey Keen. I’ll Be Damned introduces the reader to Anna, a Savannah coffee shop owner who has been plagued for years with mysterious attacks of cramping and pain and an odd effect on other people. Things start to really become strange as handsome men suddenly take an interest in her. At last, her family divulges information that they have kept hidden from her for the past 29 years. Anna, with the support of a few great friends and the new men in her life, develops into a character she never knew she could be. She learns just how important she is, not only to her family but to the world in general.  I’ll Be Damned is a great read that is just thrilling enough without being horrifying. The characters are well developed and certainly interesting. Casey Keen does a great job of keeping the action and excitement going page after page. Unsuspected and certainly surprising facts greet Anna as she is forced to confront a truth she never suspected. However, there is no doubt that her friends will help her through the ordeals she must face. Keen does a masterful job of developing Anna from a ‘regular gal’ into someone quite special -– someone on whom her teachers and the whole world depend to maintain the balance of good and evil. The descriptions are quite realistic and all the characters have a depth that makes them believable. Playful, serious, and insecure moments offer realism to this great paranormal novel.

Anna Wolfe is just trying to get over her ex and the fact that he dumped her for a younger version. So far things are going alright. Her coffee shop Dejavu Brew is doing fine, she has two awesome friends, one awesome sister and of course the sister that came from hell. But fine was covering her life, well until she starts getting weird text messages and some weirdo starts following her around.   Her friend Kristy introduce her to a guy, but immediately Anna feels something is way off with this guy, and try to avoid him. And then there is the stunning, handsome to die for, Greek God that stumbles into her coffee shop a few times and makes her go all heart thump crazy.   But soon her weird things turn into really bad and crazy things. Her sisters gets kidnapped, demons are chasing her, Shane the weirdo doesn't want to go away, oh and The Greek God turns out to be a guardian werewolf that needs to protect her from evil. Oh yeah, Anna's boring life just went epic.   Anna is an interesting character, her new life has her scared and frustrated most of the times, and yet she can really whip out a can of anger. I loved watching her go from scared woman to all magic bombs mad. She has a hard time keeping the guys either off her or out of each other's kill zones. Valen was also very interesting and I love the chemistry between him and Anna, although Roman also has a great presence and between the two it's an interesting challenge. Martello was my favorite character with a great since of humor, but also Anna's wingman most of the times.   The story starts off slow and gradually develops into a fast pace. Over all, the novel was well written with an interesting plot. I have to say I was frustrated with the men in this novel, man do they need a push. Except for Micah of course, he totally step up to the plate. I loved the training Anna goes through and as she discovers her own strengths and powers. Pretty soon she is totally kicking butt. But Anna has one big flaw; she never listens to Valen and ends up in big trouble. It's going to be awesome to see what happens in book two, and happens with Anna and Valen.   Quote from the book: "Girl, I needs somethin' stronger than tea," Martello replies, following her.

This is the first book in the Anna Wolfe Series by Casey Keen.  I received it during a book tour and said that I would give an honest review.  However, being totally honest, I had a lot of problems with this book.  To be fair to the author and the book tour, I waited until the tour was over to post this review. The book opens on the lead character, Anna Wolfe in the middle of a nightmare.  One she has almost every night.  She describes an unholy landscape filled with rivers of lava, jagged mountains and confusion and anxiety. Sometimes she is injured in the dream, sometimes she escapes harm.  But always, there is a malevolence in the air that scares her. Anna has lived with this as long as she can remember. Next up she also give us a description of growing up and going to school, unable to make friends because of how "odd" she was.  Strange things would happen around her and if she concentrated she could move things with her mind.  Anna even managed to shatter her eighth grade classroom windows because she was being teased and mocked by her classmates.  The claim was that people were just able to sense the wrong-ness about her.   Then we fast forward 16 years.  Anna is having a rare night out with her visiting family.  One younger sister is going on and on about her wedding and allows Anna to zone out.  She is feeling depressed about a recent break up with her boyfriend. Anna is trying to not fight with Cara about the monopolization of the conversation with wedding plans when Anna has to rush off to the restroom due to agonizing cramps.  These cramps have been ongoing for awhile, but getting more intense over time.  She finally heads back to the table and her other sister Janie asks to stay with her until the wedding.  Anna agrees after some argument. Okay, by this point we were on page 15 and the first line of dialogue didn't happen till page 8.  I was getting very frustrated with the shear amount of info dump going on.  And it just never got any better. There is very little dialogue to be had in the entire book. This was a major downer for me, as I love clever and witty dialogue. Some examples of my further frustration include the unrealistic running of her coffee shop.  Anna lives almost an hour away from her shop, yet she opens at 6 am till 10 pm most every day, and manages to have time for drinks after work.  Really?  When the hell does she manage to sleep? Plus there seem to be no employees except one "best" friend who works with her during the busiest parts of the day and on Anna's day off.  There was a mention of baked goods smelling good, but no mention of where they came from.  This shop is supposed to be such a large part of her life, her pride and joy, and yet what little information we get about it seems so unlikely and contradictory I couldn't wrap my head around it.  I understand that the main story isn't about the coffee shop, but when major scene happen in it, it should be portrayed accurately.   Then there is Anna's cramps and nightmares.  Apparently she has never told her family about them.  At all.  Ever.  Later we find out that her parents knew that she was going to be having physical issues but never bothered to tell her, but they told her sister Janie.  They knew that as it got closer to her birthday the problems would increase, but they waited for her to come to them.  Apparently they didn't want to "worry or alarm" Anna.   Finally, I just couldn't seem to connect with the character of Anna.  I kept getting Mary Sue vibes.  The further we went in the story the more and more she seemed to be able to do.  There was a scene where Roman was going to try and teach Anna some self-defense manuvers and "wham" she just automatically started doing it.  Jumping over trees and almost out running the werewolf?  No problem.  Out one night with her friend and employee, they get chased by demons and she manages to out drive them and get away, while half drunk in the dark in unfamiliar territory. Sure.  Tells her friend that she is apparently a hereditary witch with supernatural powers, does friend freak out? Nope.  Just says, "I see ghosts, so I have issues too." It was just too much for me. I wanted to like this book - the premise sounded fun, the cover looked great, and I got it for free for reviewing it.  And yet I didn't.  Not even a little bit.  There is potential here, but the execution left a lot to be desired.  I gave this book 1 star on Goodreads. It just had too many flaws for me to find any enjoyment in.

I’ll Be Damned is a crazy, when it rains it pours story. Anna has just turned thirty, recently been dumped, finds out her sister has been kidnapped and now on top of everything else she finds out that she is a Grand Witch and the devil wants her! Not to mention she is being helped by to gorgeous guys that practically make her drool! Anna Wolfe isn’t just having one bad day, but several. The only light in her totally chaotic world come in the form of Valen the Werewolf and Roman the Warlock. Even the bad guys, Micah, is sexy as sin! Literally! Anna, along with her personal body guards, are on a race against time to save her sister and find a way to awaken Anna’s dormant powers so they can help save the world from a war between Heaven and Hell. The suspense, humor, loads of sexual tension, and magic make this a fantastic read that will keep you on the edge of your seat trying to guess what will happen next. This is a sexy and exciting debut series! I cannot wait to see what happens next! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

** I received a copy of this book for an honest review** Great Story! I really enjoyed this book; Casey Keen does a great job on her debut novel.  I can absolutely relate to Anna, I have two sisters as well and boy what a pain that can be sometimes, lol, and I’ve always wanted to visit or live in Savannah.  Anna is leading what she thinks is a totally normal life, until a few mysterious men walk into her life. Valen tries to introduce her to her new world as easily as he can, but with the kidnapping of her sister and her birthday coming up, Anna must learn everything she can to protect herself, and save her sister as well. At first I thought Anna was taking her good ol time and being a bit bratty, but she actually realizes her behavior and knows she’s being bratty, so she adjusts her attitude about it and does what needs to be done in order to save the ones she loves. I’ve read plenty of books with a whiney and bratty heroine who just doesn’t own up to their responsibilities till the end, I’m so happy that was not the case in this book though. But I will admit I do wish Valen and Anna would have taken the next step in their relationship, the sexual tension between them was palpable. And Roman, well he was just too sexy and his back and forth banter and competitive demeanor with Valen is quite comical to me. I’ve had plenty of male friends like that, lol. Martello and Kristy, Anna friends, are absolutely awesome; they have Anna’s back 100%, and help her anyway they can through this, even if it’s with a beverage, lol. I hope to see more of them in this series.  I definitely recommend it and I look forward to the next installment in the series.
