Illegally Iced: A Donut Shop Mystery by Jessica Beck

Illegally Iced

Jessica Beck

Donut shop owner Suzanne Hart knows how to treat her customers. But sometimes life can get a bit sticky. When a spat she has with a local blacksmith—one that could have been solved with a handshake and a mixed dozen—ends with his murder, Suzanne is caught dead in her tracks. Suddenly everyone in April Springs has their eyes on her. And they're hungry with suspicion.
Left with little choice but to catch the killer herself, Suzanne starts lining up suspects. But her case is full of holes. How did the killer strike in the middle of the day without a single witness to the crime? Who knew that the humble blacksmith was actually an heir to a family fortune? The heat is on as Suzanne tries to solve the case and save her business. Can she have her cake-donut and eat it too?

I really love this series, and this gem did not disappoint. The author has a real gift for developing characters and plot lines. The only negative I have is that the ending was abrubt. I was surprised to turn the page and find that the book had actually ended. I am looking forward to the next installment.

I love these light fair murder mystery books. The Donut Shop series is easy to read and entertaining. It's not gruesome or heavy on the CSI details which makes for a nice escape from my daily stress. I highly recommend this book.

This is a fast and easy read and I always enjoy my visit in April Springs, especially when Suzanne and Grace set on a path to find a killer and in turn learn more about their friend. This is another great read in the charming series.

This is another great mystery ... quick read, but leaves you guessing on the killer until the end. I was totally on a different page of who i thought it was going to be!!!! I love the surprises.... they arent so out there where you couldnt have figured it out... like a random killer without a name, they are just the right amount of dotted lines leading to the killer that makes you feel that ah ha moment right along with the investigative characters. Loved how the author brought in a little of the process of writing these types of books are... i am curious which of the methods detailed are the ones used by this author... Cant wait to return to April Spings and Donut Hearts!! Starting the other series now, hope they deliver the same entertainment as the donut series does. Happy Reading
