Overview

The Illustrated Weightlifting Attic by Mohamed F. El-Hewie, Sjaak Smorenburg

For those readers who are inclined to visual learning with the least amount of text, we present this illustrated edition of the Weightlifting Attic. We presented the sport of weightlifting in 584 photos and illustrations with comments on their roles in the four-year training program in Sjaak Smorenburg's Weightlifting Room. The illustrations emphasize the techniques of lifting and errors that are inherent in the learning process. We added anatomical illustrations when we felt that the reader might need a hint in figuring out the basic working schemes in the process of lifting. The book covers the following topics:

Classical Weightlifting room
Power Snatch
Snatch, narrow grip
One legged Squat
Clean and Jerk
The Deadlift and Pull
Front Squat
Failed Snatch
Comparison with International lifters
Hang Snatch
Hang Clean
The Snatch: Head, hips, bar trajectories
The Clean and Jerk: Head, hips, bar trajectories
Jerk from the Rack
Front Squat
Power Snatch
Shoulder Press and Squatting
Narrow hand gripped Snatch
Anatomy of leg muscles
Efficient Olympic Bar Trajectory
Training on the head and squatting positioning

This book was exactly what it said it is, an Illustrated Weightlifting book. I was looking for a book that told the reader how to perform an Oly lift in perfect or at least near perfect form. This book only shows the pictures of people performing the movements in a stop frame fashion. I my purposes it did not help. I don't know what the paper back is like because bought the downloadable version only.
