Dolores Ayotte has such a gentle, humble manner in her writing, that it feels as if she is touching you and bringing her voice directly into your core. She opens with, "Thank you for teaching me all that I know today. By becoming the student, I was able to able eventually to be the teacher that I am today." Written from the heart, this book is the result of twenty-five years of juggling ideas in her mind. She suggests that healing is a lifelong journey, which she calls a healing circle, linked to more circles like a gold chain to be treasured. The first step in the journey is learning to love yourself; after that, the next steps become easier. Dolores encourages you to have a really good look at yourself, look into your eyes into the depth of your soul, to listen to the gentle philosopher that lives within you, and to cherish the gift of laughter. Her teaching is supported by lovely quotes from an extensive bibliography, quotes that enrich her message and anchor it in truth, such as "Love has two daughters--kindness and patience." Five stars.

"Dolores Ayotte told us she was sitting with us, chatting, as we drank a cup of tea together as one of the first thoughts in her first book, I'm Not Perfect And It's Okay. This little penning of her heart attitude really allowed me to relax as I began to read her thoughts. Indeed, though the gems of truth Dolores has gleaned from her battle with depression are paramount toward living in a balanced way, she shares them with wit and gentle understanding of the human makeup. I appreciated her play on words in a number of places, and her habit of chronicling quotes from great people was passed to her readers masterfully to further the reader's understanding of what Dolores is trying to convey. Dolores Ayotte honestly, graciously, and thoroughly expresses a very poignant and insightful journey manual for those of us, who are actually all of us, that struggle with debilitating issues in the course of walking toward the end of our life. I found myself able to do some "reality checks" with Dolores because there was no judgment conveyed to her readers in I'm Not Perfect And It's Okay. I recommend this lovely read to anyone who needs to think through life habits toward a better day for themselves as well as those around them who are family, friend, and acquaintance. I also think Dolores has given us a lot for which to think about how we view God and the Savior, Jesus Christ. May anyone blessed to read this book come to a fuller knowledge of God and His Son, the Savior." ~Cara Coffey, author, "Uncovered No More"
