Overview

Immortal Hearts concludes Ellen Schreiber’s romantic, exciting Vampire Kisses series.

In Immortal Hearts from the popular Vampire Kisses series by Ellen Schreiber, Alexander’s little sister Athena “Stormy” Sterling comes to Dullsville, stirring up the immortal world. Her visit gives teen goth-girl Raven a clearer picture of what life as a member of Alexander’s vampire family would be like.

Nothing she sees lessens her desire to become a vampire. She adores Alexander. She’s sure spending every night with him and sleeping in his arms in his coffin every day would be the perfect life. But she hasn’t been able to convince her vampire love that he should turn her. At least not yet…

Fans won’t want to miss the last chapter in Raven and Alexander’s love story.

Editorial Reviews

VOYA - Kevin Beach
The author concludes her series about the undead with this ninth installment about goth teen and still-mortal Raven pursuing her "dreamy" vampiric boyfriend, Alexander. In this volume she comes ever closer in her ongoing efforts to get Alexander to turn her—to make her a vampire and become his eternal mate. In her way stands a plethora of mortals and vampires who conspire to have her or her boyfriend. The crux of this book centers around the arrival of Alexander's sister, another vampire who becomes Raven's best friend while setting her sights on Raven's nerdy brother. The remainder of the book follows the female characters as they shop, hang out in the school hallways, or attend the goth nightclub where the real vampires hang out. The dialogue vacillates between bitchy and gossipy as the characters connive, plot, and pout. The novel is promoted as a title for reluctant readers, probably female. Do not look for high-quality literature here; there is very little character development or imagination. The town's name is Dullsville. Nocturnal romances are still quite popular, though, and it is a good thing to encourage reluctant readers. The author is also known for another series that features werewolves. This is recommended for stockers of the series; otherwise, it is not an essential purchase. Reviewer: Kevin Beach

I am sad that this is the final novel in the Vampire Kisses series. I picked up the first one on a whim while I was browsing Barnes and Noble. I have always felt a kinship to Raven and have been called macabre myself more times than I can count. I loved the fact that she was an odd duck in the center of a conformist town and refused to change for anyone. I would label the series as lower young adult, maybe even middle grade. The writing isn’t very mature and the vocabulary is geared towards a younger audience. There are abundant clichés that are used to describe the vampires: the sexy broody one, the sexy-but-evil one, the Goth one, the pixy-like one etc… The entire series spans one year’s time in Dullsville. Immortal Hearts begins just before Halloween and everyone is excited about the Haunted House that Jagger has organized for The Crypt. Alexander’s younger sister Stormy is visiting from Romania and Raven wants to make a good impression. I like Stormy, she acts just like a tween and has the mood swings and braces to boot. Actually, she reminds me a lot of my 12 year old cousin. And, gasp, she has a crush on Raven’s younger brother Billy. Stormy even goes as far as choosing a Princess Leia costume to go trick-or-treating in and coincidentally Billy dresses as Luke Skywalker. Yup, really. That aside, Billy is a good kid and Raven finally starts to fully realize what a cool little brother she has. The focus of Immortal Hearts is, and what has always been in the series, Raven’s dream of being turned into a Vampire. Although in this book now it is no longer good enough to just be a vampire, she wants to be turned by Alexander. The pressure and manipulation tactics she uses to try and sway him were a little much, especially considering that by turning her and performing the Covenant Ceremony he is essentially marrying her. And unlike other (sparkly) vampires we know, Alexander has not been 17 for a hundred years; he really is just a teenager. The only real conflict is the semi-redundant storyline of Jagger and Luna’s evil plots. This time, their big plan was to get Raven to agree to be turned by Jagger. We get it, they are bad. The only other thing that could have been played up was that Billy was finally beginning to figure out why the Sterlings were different. This could have turned the plot in the story, but it just fizzled. I think I will miss Trevor the most, though. He is the epitome of the boy you love to hate, but you can’t help but feel sorry for him. Unlike Jagger, he really had feelings for Raven. While I will not give away the ending, I will say that it could have just been more. Everything seemed to be wrapped up in three pages. Nothing is explained in any great detail and it was really frustrating to read and know that this is it, the end, no more books. I realize I just spent the whole time griping about the book, but I really do love the Vampire Kisses series; I even had tears in my eyes at the end. They are one of my guilty pleasure reads and will probably read them over and over. Farewell Vampire Kisses, you will be missed!

I've always enjoyed this serious from when I was a preteen to now I am about to go to college, but the series turned from a cute series with a good plot, memorable characters and good dialogue to the writer pleasing herself instead of writing a good story. I've done it when I write, then I have to backtrack, because I need to decide if it is essential to the plot, or if I wrote it just to please me. This entire book appears to be written to please herself. And she missed many great oppertunities to make it a good story, and instead of putting her with Jagger to run the club like she seemed born to do, or end up with Trevor who was her long-time nemesis and obviously could have made a great story, she gives Trevor the cold shoulder, and makes Jagger "friendly", which I don't like. So Raven is, once boringly again, with Alexander, who started as a very great, handsome character at first, and turned into a boring sponge with the same lines and wants book after book. I really wish she would have changed the story to make it memorble, but time and time again its the same old story. This is a good series, I will always remember it, but it finished up lazily and predictable.

OMG!! I'm soooo excited to read the new book! I hope their going to make a movie but it has to be just like the books. I don't like it when directors ruin books by changing things or skipping really important stuff. BTW I <3 vampire kisses!!!

I have been reading this series since I was in the 6th grade, I'm now in the 11th. The series turned from a cute series with a good plot, memorable characters and good dialogue, to something truly amazing. This last one left me breathless. I'm happy for Raven and Alexander. Me and Raven are so a like in these books. I wish I could date a vampire. I'm an outcasts in school but we also just love to have fun and party, although i do envy how she has Alexander Have. An "immortal love" for one another.

the book was very good it ends with how we all expected it to end but it doesn't say anything about what happens after so that was dissappointing because i'm sure we all wanted to know what happens next in alexander and raven's relationship but ellen leaves that to our own imagination....other than that it was good

In the last book in the VK series, Raven questions if she really and honestly wants to be a vampire and stay with Alexander for eternity. While the new covers look pretty cool, I still like the old covers, gives it a more nostalgic feeling toward them. I'll admit these may not be the best written books or anything, but there still fun reads. Still if you want a fun light read, then you'll love Vampire Kisses.
