Reading this book is like eating whipped cream - lots of fluff and little content. Wading through the author gushing about how much users and administrators simply LOVE ssh is not what I was looking for. Just the facts, please! I finally lost patience with the book during the description of installing the daemon. He took a dozen pages to tell me to unzip the distribution, and then type sshd. Are you kidding me? I already knew that! If you want to know the nuts and bolts of compiling, installing, and running ssh servers and clients, skip this one and try the O'Reilly book (the one with the escargot on the cover).

I am an operational security manager. This book helped us implement a secure management network with SSH. Also, it has some great ideas about using SSH to secure wireless networks that we now use in our own network. Definitely a good resource to have on the bookshelf.

This book is the A to Z for SSH. I highly recommend it if you plan to use SSH in any way in your organization. The book shows a variety of implementation methods for SSH, from Wireless web browsing to secure managment networks.
