WORTH READING!... Total Pages: 650...Story Pages: 596 Book 5 of the Southern Arcana series. Julio & Sera's story. Julio is a born wolf and Sera is a born coyote. Can't wait until the next book!

This fantasy novel by Moira Rogers of werewolves and the dying out breed of werecoyotes which was also tagged as paranormal romance and erotica. There is adventure, political intrigue, and spousal abuse in the supporting landscape. All together it sounded like a good, trashy read to distract me from election histrionics. It wasn't. This book might have been better if I had read Southern Aracana #1 through #4 first and had more invested in the characters. As it was I couldn't keep track of them at the speed they flitted through the story much like the landscape passes while I'm driving down the interstate. Past events critical to the plot were mentioned but not much detail was provided. Now, I don't think every event which ever happened should have to be mentioned in every book because it's annoying to those people who have read all the other books in the series. However, I have read other series books out of sequence before and the story I was reading was interesting enough to inspire me to go read the other books. Impulse did not. The characters were too flat, the supposedly erotic sex insipid, and the BDSM tags unearned. The heroine, Sera, was supposedly learning to accept her submissive nature while finding strength in it and also overcoming past spousal abuse. Now while I will give her a few bonus points for facing down her ex, overall I didn't find her very inspiring. She didn't really find her freedom. She found a more acceptable dominant male and pretty much went back to what she was supposedly escaping.

Julio and Sera, learning to love each other while helping the packs and learning how unjustly they were treated by the outgoing leaders. Fighting to be together in more ways than one. A great addition.
