A thrilling read, "In One Hand" quickly takes you by the hand and leads you through the early adult life of the main character, Tony Sardelli. A Brooklyn born only child of very loving Italian parents, Tony is first headed to the U.S.Army. From here he swiftly picks you up and engulfs you in both the very good and very hard times of his early adulthood. Army life, N.Y.C. Police Department, friendship, marriage, devotion, and integrity all displayed with the undertones of both his loving, Christian Italian upbringing and his tough Brooklyn attitude keeps the reader engulfed in this story. The author's candid description of the many people who actually touched his life brings you face to face with them, truly allowing you to grasp each character while keeping you in touch throughout this true, fast paced life story. The many surprises in this story kept me hungry for more, making it a fast moving, eye opening, enjoyable read! I highly recommend "In One Hand".

A classic book and a great read about life in NYPD before the Serpico case. The reader gets a first hand look at life in the department through the eyes of Tony Sardelli as he goes from young wide eyed cadet to seasoned veteran on the streets of New York. Along the way we meet a cast of some unforgetable character as well the loves won and lost by Sardelli. Great Book for people who love crime and justice books or want to get an idea of what being a police officer was like in the 1960s. I highly recommend In One Hand.

This book takes place in the 60's. Mr. Bruno takes us through the life, loves and friendships of Tony Sardelli...Son, Husband, Serviceman, Cop, Friend and Lover. Everything given to him is quickly taken away. This book is well written and easy to read, as a matter of fact, extremely difficult to put down. You will love every one of his characters. There is something in this book for everyone, it is warm, funny, romantic, emotional. I would recommend this book to both men and women. When it ended, I was certainly left with the feeling of wanting more! I can't wait for book 2, would love to see this as a movie! BRAVO ANTHONY BRUNO!! Well Done!

I am an English/Reading teacher in a Middle School in NE PA and I am always interested in a good book to read. First let me say from the moment I picked up the book up I had a hard time putting it down. It has been quite some time since I was that interested in a novel. All of the characters were colorful as well a interesting. Of course, my two favorite characters were Tony and's as if I knew them personally. Last but not least the ending just blew me away. I literally sat there with my mouth open!!! What a great ending! This novel should be made into a movie, it will be a blockbuster!! Bravo Tony Bruno!!!

In One Hand is an easy read, the kind of book that keeps you saying "I'll read just one more chapter" Mr. Bruno introduces his character as a young man as he enters into the army, and then quickly brings us to what becomes Tony's first love. the 7th precinct. The author gives us a true look at what being a N.Y.C. police officer was like in the 60's. The friendships he made, as well as the hard decisions that kept him true to his own beliefs. Tony Sardelli is a character that you love and hate at the same time. Living a playboy life style, he is the man that most women have loved once in their life, and the man that most men want to be like. Tony has a very cocky attitude, and never apologizes for it. He is a man who controls but will not be controlled. His relationship with his wife, a famous movie star and a wealthy woman show us that Tony will stay in control and do things his way. That is until the author introduces Allison. the one woman that went against everything that Tony wanted, but the one woman he couldn't seem to walk away from. The relationship with Allison introduces a new side of Tony, a tender side. A side that Tony tries to hide. Allison keeps drawing him back like a magnet, until he meets Kristin, the one person that lets Tony walk away from Allison for good. Kristin, the one person who can give Tony everything he wants, or so he thinks. And then, the author gives us the most surprising ending. One that could not be anticipated. I hope that the author is working on a sequel. I am anxious to know what happens to our character. Enjoyable read! I highly recommend "In One Hand".

Once I started reading this book, I could not put it down. I couldn't wait to see what next would be given to Tony In One Hand and taken away in the other. It seemed like an unfortunate series of events that he was able to rise above and conquer. The book gave great insight into his stubborn, cocky side and also revealed his sensitive, tender side, which he kept hidden most of the time. The ending was a total shocker - the ultimate irony. I can't wait for a sequel.

Was so sorry to see this book end. I was able to relate to the 60's and 70's and of how things were at that time. It was funny at times and then very sad at others. Truly hope Anthony Bruno will write a sequel to this book since I am sure there is so much more to tell about the characters life after he ended his story. Worth every minute of time spent reading this book. Great job Anthony Bruno.

In One Hand is a love story for guys. There is much womanizing and this truly is a period piece. Know that you will not be getting a politically correct version of the 1960s and 70s through the eyes of a NYC police officer and Italian man. Instead, you read an uncensored version of what drove the main character, Tony, to make tough decisions, in both his personal and professional life. We (like Tony) never get to find out what "decision" he made that fateful day on the job. If only that pivotal event didn't occur! I was also completely blindsided by the ending. I envisioned exactly what I thought the young couple would do to ring in the New Year and send Tony into the next chapter of his life. Boy, was I wrong. I won't ruin the ending, but I was left with a hole that wouldn't be filled by the book. Much like our main character, I was left to mentally wander. I wish there had been even more police stories as the time this takes place was a hot bed in Manhattan for the police. Maybe we'll get some flashbacks in the squeal. I recommend.

A Book gaining 'Momentum'. I haven't read such an interesting story as this and besides it took place in the 1960's era, my time that I enjoyed. Realistic events, an affair with a Hollywood Star, and what a shocking ending to boot. A Cop story full of intersting facts and actual events. Very enjoyable. I do not see why Barnes & Nobles doesn't have this Author, Anthony Bruno at a Booksigning Event as of yet! Twice I hear Mr. Bruno being interviewed on Radio shows, and he made people's eyebrow go up for sure, as he explained true events, funny happenings, and they way it was back then in the N.Y.P.D. . I couldn't have enjoyed this Book any more than I did. This would make a great Movie for sure. 04/04/12 sal barzini, Brooklyn, NY

Terrific story, exciting, and intense at times. Between the main character Tony, those other characters he worked with on the force, and his escapades of love affairs only added to my interests. As a women, I can imagine how Tony felt when a famous Hollywood star was attracted to him. Smiling away, while his chest expanded to new levels I bet. And that ending was too intense for me, the author must write a another book following this one. And if he does I'll send my husband Hunting for a couple of days with his pals this time. I would go see this in the Movies if it ever becomes one. Loved it! I think most all types of readers would love this book.

This book was recommended by my best friend and I'm so happy she did it. In One Hand is one of the best books I have ever read. The story of a young New York police officer's loves and escapades entrances the reader and brings to life the era of the 1960's. The characters are so well written and the scenes so well described, anyone who lived in that era could relate while those who didn't, like myself, could easily imagine it. The story at times will stir every emotion from empathy to anger, but it's the ending that will blow your mind away. I am greatly looking forward to a sequal. Tara- Pennsylvania

I am a baby boomer and the 60's was the greatest. But this main charcter, Tony, sure experience full circle the ups & downs not only as a cop, but with his marriage, and his extra affairs of the heart. And to have an affair with a Hollywood famous Movie star had to be something else for an everyday guy, a cop on the beat. I got chocked up at that unbelievable ending, but hope deep down inside the author comes out with a sequel, and I'll buy it immediately.Any book club, and for that matter any typical New Yorker, or retired cop, and or a on the job cop would love this story. Personally I would love to see this as a Movie on the big screen. Nov.2,2011 *****Now 23 5STAR RATING REVIEWS ON BARNES & NOBLES SITE. In One Hand allows the reader to enter the city of New York's darkest corners, while at the same time experiencing a romantic journey that we can all relate to in varying degrees. In Tony, we find the complicated multiple deminsions of love and duty. Bruno, provides his readers a story that engages the senses and the emotions. His raw material is fascinating and allows us to experience the intensity of life as a NYC police officer, while underlining the search we all make to find someone who can complete our lives. His characters have endless charm, making the reader fall in love with all of them. You'll find yourself smiling with Tony and "The Heeb," while at the same time breaking your heart every time Tony's love life falls apart. It's hard not to love this book and even harder not to want more. You'll find yourself constantly intrigued and wondering how the almost mythical Tony ends his career of hero and lover. I highly recommend In One Hand, it will provide any reader with all the elements of a good story, don't miss out.

First of all, "THANK YOU, TONY" for sending me a first edition, signed copy of your book. When I first got the book in my hand, I was intimidated by the size of it. I had not,to this date, tackled reading a book of this size. However, once I started reading this amazing story, Tony's life, I could not put the book down. I thought about it every day and set aside one hour every morning to read it and I couldn't wait to keep going. It became one of the best and easiest books I have ever read. Tony has a way of bringing all of the characters to life in the book. I felt like I knew them all and I could feel the emotions and spirits of each one he wrote about. When I think about the book I get emotional and I feel the spirit of his life inside my heart. I highly recommend and hope that many people will buy this book and read it. It is a joyous journey through a man's struggle with his personal and professional life. It's amazing to me how he had the courage to share this with the world by writing his life in permanent ink and have such a way of making it real to the reader. I honestly felt like I was watching it unfold right in front of me. When the end of the book came, I was saddened because it was over. I had no other book to read that I even wanted to pick up! I wanted to keep reading about Tony's life and what happened to him to this day. Everyone needs to read this book and share the experience of the journey that Tony takes you through as he talks about his struggles and sacrifices, love and pain and how life can give you something in "one hand" and take it from the other. I feel that way myself often. Such a perfect title for a perfect book. I am actually reading it again. Thank you Anthony Bruno for sharing this book with me and the world. It is truly a gift and it was a joy and thrill to read.

In One Hand is the kind of book anyone can relate to. Anthony "The Bear" allows you to feel his emotions through out the entire story. He has a way with words that make you feel as if you are there, watching his life unfold. It was nearly impossible to put down because you never knew what was next to come. Although a little stubborn and sometimes cocky,Tony always remained the perfect and most generous gentleman.I could not help but to love his character. The ending,,lets just say you won't see this one coming! I highly recommend this book and can only hope for a sequel!

When I first saw the size of this book, I thought it would take forever to read. Boy, was I wrong. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. The plotline is never boring. You find yourself wanting to know if Tony will ever find that one special woman to make him totally happy. Each time you think ok, this is the one, something happens and Tony is left alone again. I hope the author publishes a sequel giving the audience a happily ever after for Tony.

Five stars!!!!!! Uplifting, Informative, factual "In One Hand is an excellent read. I could not put it down. Anthony Bruno presented word-picture descriptions of scenes and events that occurred throughout the book so as to appeal to the reader's imagination. He made you feel that you were there. His writing makes the reader realize through sensual details and description of the events he encountered, the way things happened to him as well as the people in his life who touched him deeply. His honesty prevails throughout his book. The author accurately describes to the reader the way life truly was back in the 60's. His life was lived as the title states "In One Hand". This book too like Edgar Allan Poe truly had a "surprise ending"." Highly recommended!!!!

This book is a must read. Filled with Thomas Hardy-esque fatalism, Bruno weaves a tale of a New York City cop who seems to have everything going for him especially when it comes to the women. Yet fate has its way of kicking him in the pants every time. I recommend this book.

A phenomenal true story. Constant intrigue as the plot thickens and as you get to know the main character, Tony. Having not lived in the late sixties and early seventies I was taken back so to speak and given a feel for the era and the lifestyle. Your wanting to read on as to what could possibly happen next to Tony. Whether it be sad, funny, shocking, exciting etc. The author creates great visuals through his eloquent words and does not inundate the reader. Highly recommend!
