In Sheep's Clothing, (A Sydney Rye Mystery, #9) by Emily Kimelman

Justice with a vengeance
Sydney Rye is missing.

All that’s left of her is a depression in the dirt and a pool of blood.

Robert Maxim is ruthless, powerful, and determined to find her.

April Madden is a preacher’s wife, and Sydney’s mother. She’s willing to risk everything…her sobriety, her marriage, even her faith, to hunt for her daughter.

But they can’t find Sydney Rye if she doesn’t want to be found.

ISIS has a new enemy, a ghost haunting their territory, infecting their flock with radical ideals. They will do anything to capture her. Their reign depends on this new prophet’s destruction.

Graffiti of a woman’s silhouette, set in a snarling wolf’s profile, appears in ISIS-controlled territory convincing Robert Maxim that Sydney Rye is alive. When women in the area begin attacking their abusers, he suspects Sydney is responsible. But Robert can’t believe she is involved after rumors claim a prophet, a weapon of God, has risen to free women from oppression.

April Madden hears the devil whispering to her; just one little cocktail to dull the pain. Instead of picking up a glass, she throws herself into a quest; track down her missing daughter, her only surviving child, and make amends. Traveling into the Islamic State is fraught with danger and thick with obstacles. April doesn’t have her daughter’s combat training or Blue, Sydney’s loyal, giant dog. But she does have her instincts, tenacity and the voice that whispers; your daughter is alive, don’t give up.

This is a great addition to the Sydney Rye series. Definitely a PG-13 as it begins and ends with war. Religious zealots have taken over the country with such cruelty that it is difficult to understand. There are a lot of stories woven within the book between both new and old characters. You really need to read the series in order to fully understand everything that is going on. I would suggest that you plan a large block of uninterrupted time to read these books as it is very difficult to stop reading to go to bed. Yes! They are that good! Enjoy.

Robert, Mulberry and Sydney's Mom April are all searching for her. Has she died in the mountains from her wounds or been captured? The other story within the story is how some women live as sex slaves, fright in a religious war and how they fight for their lives just to survive. Emily gives us an intriguing, fast paced and amazing look at somethings we have never had to live thru. Makes us appreciate our family friends, neighbors and country so much more. I love the Sydney Rye series because Emily gives us excellent adventures. She has done it again in this book. joy943

Where is Sydney? That is the question that has everyone who cares about her are asking as they begin their search. All they know is that a dead man has been found, lots of blood, small tracks and dog tracks leading away from the scene, but no sign of Sydney. Robert, Mulberry, and even April, Sydney's mother are on the ground looking to find Sydney. Their search is complicated by a movement among the Muslim women who are beginning to follow a new prophet with the message that they do not have to be subservient to the men, that they are equal to them. What is the story behind this prophet? Is it Sydney? Where exactly are Sydney and Blue? Will the mountainous region ever give up its secrets? Emily Kimelman has delivered a book that is wide in scope and involves a societal or cultural problem that face the women of the Muslim world. It has its action parts but also looks at the weaknesses that some of the characters face and how they learn to overcome those weakenesses. An excellent read and story.

I don't leave long reviews for Sydney Rye because I find Myself usually a emotional wreck after reading a book. This book like all the others takes you on a journey. I was worried about this story. It had some ups and downs but Emily knows how to tell a story that has you scared but wanting more. I was not disappointed at all. After 8 books how much more can Sydney get into? How much more do we need to learn? OH so much more. I found out stuff I didn't know I needed. This book was a great one and left me wanting the next book. Great job.

Once again, Emily Kimelman delivered a fast-paced, thrilling adventure. Sydney Rye #9 picked up seamlessly from #8, and the characters were back in full form ready to rid the world of injustice. The various POVs were refreshing and engaging, creating a multidimensional world. The ending left me full of anticipation and excitement for the next book. Bravo!

IN SHEEP'S. CLOTHING. EMILY KILMELMAN. Book 9 "Sydney Rye Mystery. Sept 27 Rye made Robert feel things, do things, and fear was the worst of his emotions. Everyone underestimated Rye, her instincts keep her alive, with Blue at her side. Influence of Datura, was making her under control of someone else. Robert was determined to find her. April her mother was willing to risk it all to find her. ISIS will do everything to capture her. A powerful story, with Rye being invisible, injured, and people after her. Emily never disappoints her readers, once a new one comes out, we're glued to the story to finish it. This has high tension, characters we know and a race for survival. Given ARC.for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
