In Dianne Duvall's world of Immortal Guardians, the stakes for mortals are high, but the cost—especially to the heart—might be higher. . .

It's not the first time Immortal Guardian Richart d'Alençon has saved a human life from eternal damnation. Usually, he moves on, a nameless savior like a ghost in the night. But this time he can't seem to forget the woman who rewarded him with a sensuous kiss after he rescued her from a trio of vampires. While Richart knows that loving a human can only bring trouble, the taste of forbidden lust is too great to resist. . .

Jenna never imagined she'd end up a single mom working overtime to put her son through school. But she might have daydreamed once that a devastatingly gorgeous Frenchman would sweep her off her feet. Now that a package of tall, dark, and handsome seems intent on doing just that, doctors are telling her she may not have long to live. But Richart is telling her just the opposite. All she has to do is abandon her humanity. . .

In Still Darkness is a wonderful novella length story to tie us over till Darkness Rises comes out. Since I have the privilege of receiving ARC copies, I actually read Darkness Rises first and was wondering how I missed Richart falling in love...Come to find out it was all in this marvelous short story. Of course with all books from Duvall, she builds a fabulously strong and passionate story with a substantial paranormal base. Even with the limited size, In Still Darkness provided a highly entertaining read and one I'm glad I didn't miss after all. If you haven't read any of the Immortal Guardian series, what are you waiting for...really it is an outstanding read for anyone who enjoys paranormal romance. I feel that In Still Darkness could stand alone but why not start from the beginning and get all the action packed adventure.

This book is really a novelette, just gives an abbreviated version of Jenna and Richert's story . Most of it was covered in other story lines. To short !

In Still Darkness was an awesome novella and a great addition to the Immortal Guardian series. Not only did we get to see how Richart and Jenna first meet and watch them fall in love but we also get some information to fill in the blanks on events that happened in Phantom Shadows. There is also the introduction of a few new characters and that could lead to future books. At least I hope so. I’d like to see where things go with John and the Network. Richart and Jenna are funny, likable and so easy to fall in love with as are all of Duvall’s Immortal Guardians.

From the previous book in the series, the readers already know Richart is in love with Jenna, a human woman. IN STILL DARKNESS is their story, their very romantic and sweet story. In here we get to see how they first met and fell in love. Being an Immortal, Richart doesn't reveal this secret immediately to Jenna, bringing a new dimension to their relationship.  I loved everything about this romance. Although it's just a short novella, it spans some months chronologically. It doesn't got that sense of rush, of everything happening too fast. It's romantic!

I love a working class heroine with a real job and a real life she has to attend to and this story has that. This book is action packed but the main characters date. I love dating in a book. I am not sure the Richart here matches the Richart from the other books in the series but he was sweetheart and very sexy. Pick up this whole series if you have not yet.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley for an honest review. Shortly after I received a copy of book five in this series I saw this novella come up for review, hadn’t read it yet so took a shot and requested it. As you can see they approved so I am not all caught up on this world that I’ve become quite fond of. This is Richart and Jenna’s story, and I was surprised I hadn’t read it before or noticed that I haven’t read it yet. Richart is one the three French siblings in this tight-knit community of Guardians. He and his twin brother having both been turned by their sister. I enjoyed the story, it was very sweet, and I liked how smitten Richart became with Jenna. I thought them a good match and was pleased with the outcome. I have a few complaints, that I will go into later, nothing serious though. We were able to get to know Sheldon better in this story, he has an important role or cameo in book five, so it was nice to understand him better. I appreciated how level-headed Jenna was, she took to this new world she was thrust into quite well and, while a bit convenient, I did like how her story line ended up. My complaints: Too short. These two are quite a cute couple, would have liked to spend some more time with them. Hope they show up in future books. Also didn’t get to see many of the other characters I love, especially Seth, who was noticeably absent or there for such a short time I didn’t notice him. Other wise great addition to the series. Look forward to reading more!

For a novella, this book is EVERY bit as good as the full length novels in the series!  It was originally part of the Predatory anthology, but was recently released on its own.  I’m so glad it has, so it can get the attention it deserves. Richart’s story takes place primarily between books 3 and 4, but contains glimpses of events from his point of view from book 2 as well.  It’s sexy, riveting, and most of all it’s adorably sweet.  While it’s overall an awesome novella, my favorite part actually involves Roland.  Too freakin’ funny!  In Still Darkness is an exciting and just plain fun novella in Dianne Duvall’s Immortal Guardians world.  Fans of the series would be remiss if they skipped it!

In Still Darkness originally appeared in the Predatory anthology, but if you are like me and are not into anthologies this is definitely the way to read Richart and Jenna's story. I love the Immortal Guardians series and In Still Darkness didn’t disappoint me. Even though it was short it was a way for the author to tie up some loose ends, since the author has teased her readers with bits of this story in the past, but it's also great as a standalone and is a great read for those who have yet to discover the Immortal Guardian series.

In Still Darkness, Dianne Duvall Review from jeannie zelos book reviews Well, I love this series and it was great to get this little novella about how Jenna and John joined the team. In the later books she’s already part of that, but this tells us how it all came about. Its kind of back in point from where the novels currently stand, where they are fighting the Vampire King’s army and have just discovered the new drug they are attacked with. Richart saves Jenna one night from a vampire attack, and is attracted, and as he has to take her home he of course knows now where she lives, and that John is her student son. He manages to bump into her at work one night, after a few weeks of checking silently on her ( or stalking her as his second Sheldon says!) and from there they meet for coffee etc. and begin dating....and then we find out more – can’t tell it or that's the story gone Winking smile It’s not all romance and sex though – there’s the usual mix of danger and mayhem too. Its a novella and usually i say i don’t like them, but when it’s part of an existing series I don’t mind. what i find hard is knowing the characters and a story in limited words but like this I already know the characters so that leaves only the story to emerge. Stars: Five, great read, good to learn how Jenna and Richart meet.

To me, this isn't even a novella. A novella implies some sort of story. 91 pages total, so probably only about 80 of actual text. All it is about is Seth warning Zach away from Ami and Lisette. Maybe B & N gave me the wrong book??
