Overview

In the Best of Families: The Anatomy of a True Tragedy by Dennis McDougal

They were a California success story, with ties that reached all the way to Ronald Reagan. But when police were called to the neat, expensive Miller home they found a monstrous death scene. Hailed as "compelling" and "riveting," this is the tragic true story of how even a "perfect" family can be destroyed when touched by suicide, matricide, and violent mental illness. HC: Warner.

The best I have ever read about mental illness in a family. Truely chilling. A sequel must follow!

Two sons of Ronald Reagan's tax attorney - coddled and privileged - descend into psychotic hell (one of whom commits a jaw-dropping crime). Well-written and well-researched chronicle of a cursed family.

Enjoyed this book as much as an Ann Rule or Gregg Olsen story. It shows money can't buy happiness and denial of their childrens' emotional problems resulted in an avoidable incident that would mark this family forever. Presented an objective view from several key persons' perspective.
