The first volume in Nantus' new Tales From the Edge series is an excellent story, filled with fascinating characters and rich details. Think of this as "Firefly" meets "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" with a murder mystery driving the plot. Sam and Daniel are a great couple: honorable, and trying to do the right thing inna bad situation. Nantus put a lot of thought into this fictional universe; like the fact that the ships usually run without artificial gravity, necessitating such things as sealed food packs. My only complaints center around the odd typographical errors (eg, words out of order) and the slow denouement after the murderer was caught. I look forward to the next book in the series. Highly recommended to fans of Zoe Archer and Leigh Wyndfield and Jess Granger. -- lyradora
