Wren Lemiere has prided herself on being a love 'em and leave 'em girl her whole life. She's all about equal opportunity in the battle of the sexes. Why should guys like her brother and his best friends get to be the only ones allowed to play the dating game? One wrong move, however, and she finds herself in violation of her own rules.
In need of a fake husband and baby daddy for her unexpected bundle of joy, Wren finally accepts Jensen is the logical one to ask for help. Except he has a counteroffer...one with so many strings attached, they may just find themselves wrapped up in ties that bind.

I must admit I was disappointed in the last two Toni Aleo Assassins books and was even critical in my review of "Delayed Call" as I missed Ms. Aleo's earlier writing style, her dialogue and her ability to set a scene. Let me say, "In the Crease" is phenomenal, the storyline is riveting, the disruptive banter is gone, and the focus is on the "H" and "h." In fact, "In the Crease" harkens back to the beginnings of the Assassins series...books I have read and re-read multiple times! Thank you Ms. Aleo for gifting your readers with this treasure!!!

I did not even finish this book which is almost a first for me.. I just could not warm up to a guy with so little gumption and such a boring, indifferent, indecisive woman.

With a shaky premise of needing a "fake" husband, I fell in love with Wren and Jensen. Following her as she eat with her ability to fall in love, I was taken on a journey through her self-discovery as she found her way to Jensen. There were so many sub-plots going on with her gay brother, her in-laws and best friends that I was also flung in love with many characters. I also love the fact that you not only get quality with Toni's books but quantity as well. Her books are always lengthy, giving us enough time to rely delve into every character and no plot. Can't wait to read more!

This was by far the best in the series. I also love all things hockey, and you didn't disappoint. What a great story with the twist so the girl being damaged and the hockey player the one with his head on straight. All of the supporting characters in this book were awesome and interesting too. I especially loved the wedding, it was entertaining and provoking at the same time. Oh my God, great.

Man, Wren about did me in the first half of the book but Jensen was amazing throughout the whole thing. I absolutely love this series. I've been hooked since book one and follow Toni on several social media sites. I was ecstatic for this book release and it did not disappoint! It's emotional, raw, honest, funny, and steamy. It will give you all the feels. I'm not one to give anything away plot wise in a review but trust me you will not be disappointed if you read this book. I always suggest starting a series at the beginning. I love each and every character and the world that Toni Aleo has created. If you start you won't be able to stop. I've reread the entire series 2 or 3 times. You will fall in love with Jensen Monroe. It took me awhile to understand why Wren didn't want what he wanted at first. Because of that I wasn't sure I liked her. I loved her by the end. Once you get into the book you begin to understand where her head is at and quite frankly why she doesn't have a lot of self esteem. All I can say is I loved this book and hope you will too!

Holy crap this book took me for a ROLLERCOASTER. I'm a fan of hockey books. Hands down some of my favorite heroes come from those books because they tend to have the alphaness I love without so much of the ego. But I was NOT expecting Jensen. Can you say SWOON? Because I swooned, and I swooned HARD for this man. He in inexplicably sweet, and incredibly sexy and pretty much too good for Wren, BUT she does A LOT of growing up and 100% becomes worthy of this man in the end. Caught in a precarious situation both Wren and Jensen make some very frustrating moves in this book, but when it's right, it's right. And it may not be orthodox, but them together in their little bubble just melted my heart. It's when Wren let's the outside in that they have trouble, and just the base circumstance int he first place that causes issues. But in the moments where they're giving in and letting this run its course ohhhh my heart was SO happy. Again, I did have issues with both of their decisions and tudes at certain points, but it's life and the the situation they find themselves in is a delicate and wobbly one. So from that standpoint they were rocking it all up until the end when my heart almost crumbled for both good and bad reasons. All I can say is that I feel a little beat up, but it was so worth the end result. IN THE CREASE is a MUST READ. It's fantastic, it's a non-cookie cutter and the issues that are dealt with (outside of the initial setup) are real and I'm sure will strike home with a lot of readers. If you're new to Toni Aleo PLEASE let this be your first foray into her world, because it's amazing and touching and oh so sexy! Happy Reading! *ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*

Toni Aleo scores with IN THE CREASE, the twelfth book in the Assassins series. NHL goalie, Jensen Monroe, has been in love with his best friend’s little sister, Wren Lemiere, since they were kids. So, when she asks him to be her fake husband in order to get her inheritance, he jumps at the opportunity with the hopes of making it permanent. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences. I adore Jensen. He has become one of my favorite male characters. He is an amazing individual. He has some understandable insecurities. He is a wonderful guy who is patient and loyal. He and Wren are adorable together. Her self-esteem has been messed with, and she has a lot of obstacles that she faces in this story. They both grow tremendously and make a cute couple. I enjoyed the plot and sub-plot. I love that Wren’s brother, Vaughn Johansson, and Brie play a major role in this novel. They definitely added to the entertainment value. The boys and Wren have known each other forever, so they have a fun relationship. I love both Wren and Jensen’s families. My father went through some of the same diabetes issues that Jensen’s dad did. Therefore, my heart went out to Jensen and his family. Toni Aleo continues to do an astonishing job with her character development. She is a talented and skillful writer whom I can always count on for an amazing read. I loved the last chapter and epilogue. It was the perfect ending. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Toni Aleo has done it again! This book is 5 Stars of beautiful all encompassing love. It is a reminder of what Toni does best - write real and honest love stories. This book brought me back to the beginning of the Assassins series with its slow burn and build up. The story has a little bit of everything... it is emotional and slightly angsty, it is powerful and romantic, and at times sinfully dirty. Jensen has to be one of my favorite of Toni's Assassins... he is everything a woman wants in man. He is kind, generous, romantic, beautiful, take-charge and dirty. His heart is by far the largest of all the Assassins. I would love to spend more time with him. Wren... what can I say about her? I feel such a kinship to her. There were times I was reading this and I was like "how did Toni get in my head?" Wren is real and true... she is a strong and independent woman with real feelings, emotions, needs and problems. Don't get me wrong,l she does alot of stupid things. But don't we all. At the end of the day this is a story about to people, two very real people who make mistakes. This is love story that truly transcends time and place. It's a beautiful story of life and love and perseverance and trust!

4.25 stars--IN THE CREASE is the twelfth installment in Toni Aleo’s contemporary, adult ASSASSINS erotic, hockey, romance series focusing on the men and women of the NHL’s professional hockey team the Nashville Assassins. This is Assassin’s goalie Jensen Monroe, and team psychiatrist Wren Lemiere’s story line. IN THE CREASE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Jensen and Wren) IN THE CREASE is a friends to lovers, best friend’s little sister trope that follows in Wrens’ discovery of an unplanned pregnancy, and the subsequent rejection by the baby’s father. Needing a fake husband and baby daddy for more reasons than she could count, Wren approaches her brother’s best friend Jensen Monroe, a man who has loved Wren for most of his life. What ensues is the building romance between Jensen and Wren, and the fall out when the secrets Wren keeps close to her heart are revealed for everyone to see. Wren Lemiere struggles with major issues of low self-esteem; her baby daddy’s rejection hits too close to home, and with her brother’s upcoming wedding Wren is desperate to find someone who is willing to play along. Wren’s reputation as a love-em and leave-em kind of girl is a reflection of her upbringing-a childhood mired in jealousy and perceived rejection from the people she loved. Jensen Monroe has been in love with Wren Lemiere for as long as he can remember. As a young, billeted hockey player, Jensen’s found himself fantasizing about his teammate’s sister- a young woman who, to the present day, remained oblivious to Jensen’s love and attraction. The relationship between Jensen and Wren struggles in the face of unrequited love; Jensen’s willingness to risk his heart and his soul for a woman who refuses to accept anything permanent including a potential future with our leading hero, is heartbreaking and emotional. Wren’s issues of low self-esteem have fractured any semblance of personal worth, and in this our heroine believes she is unworthy of love and affection, including the love of the family in which she grew up. There were plenty of tear-inducing triggers. Some readers may take offense to our heroine’s attitude and unwillingness to give love a chance but Wren battles with her heart as the pain of previous hurt and rejection come full circle both at home and in her personal life. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Wren’s brother Wells and his boyfriend Alex, Vaughn Johanssen and Brie Soladad (Delayed Call #11), Wren and Wells’ parents Winston and Elaine Lemiere, as well as Jensen’s mother and father Emma and Antoine Monroe, and Assassin’s owner Elli Adler, Wren’s former best friend Shanna, and her brother Bradley Washington, and Jensen’s ex Ophelia. IN THE CREASE is an emotional story line; a heartbreaking tale about one man who loves unconditionally, and one woman who believes she is unworthy of love. The premise is energetic and entertaining; the characters are colorful, passionate and dynamic; the romance is seductive and intense. IN THE CREASE is a roller-coaster of emotions; a spirited and inspiring story with a happily ever after.
