Assassin Ria Dante wants to steal a priceless treasure from the Assassin's Guild and use it as a bargaining chip for her freedom and she knows the Phoenix brothers are the best chance at success. But things get complicated when it turns out Ria looks exactly like Zayn Phoenix's dead Strike Wing partner -- and the woman he loved. I really enjoyed In the Devil's Nebula, especially seeing Zayn's more vulnerable side compared to his charming, care-free attitude from the previous book. Plenty of action and adventure keeps the book moving quickly but it doesn't overshadow the romance between Ria and Zayn. I truly felt for Zayn's initial struggle to recognize Ria for herself instead of always seeing Vik, his ex-partner; talk about a tragic story. Zayn carries a lot of guilt over Vik's death and this creates a lot of drama over his growing feelings for Ria. How can Ria trust that Zayn's feelings are real when she has the same face as the women he loved and lost? I love a strong heroine and I can always count on Anna Hackett to deliver. Ria was strong, determined, and honorable; she knew in her heart she wasn't an assassin and that she needed to live the life she wanted. In particular, I enjoyed the mystery surrounding Ria's likeness to Vik. Normally I can figure out the "secret" in a book, but this one had me second guessing myself up until the end. I had so many different theories running through my head and it added a lot of great tension throughout.

What a fiery couple they were! I was really impressed with Ria (h) in this book. She is a very strong character. So, basically, we have Ria (h) who is a part of the Assassin's Guild, and Zayn (H) who is a former fighter pilot turned treasure hunter. Ria no longer wants to be a member of the Assassin's Guild, but members aren't allowed to just quit. She feels like she has to give the Guild something valuable to pretty much buy her way out. However, she needs the help of the Phoenix brothers to find the item. In order to gain their help, she continuously pops up and steals the valuable items that they're looking for before they can get to them. She's willing to offer a trade.... their items for their help. Needless to say, when a book starts off with a bang like that, there are going to be some explosions along the way. I definitely recommend this book.
