This companion book in the trilogy "Annals of Alasia" follows a young girl's point of view during the time of the Malornian invasion while the Prince of Alasia (book I) is fleeing for his life. The details of this fantasy world are rich, and Ms. Lima's writing style is seamless and has great depth. At first I wasn't drawn to the main character, Anya, as strongly as I was to Prince Jaymin's character in book I, but she really "grew on me" and by the end I loved her as much as the prince.
