Incomplete Sentence by E. E. Kennedy

Gregory Rasmussen, the infamous Rasputin Killer, never served the sentence handed down in absentia for a particularly brutal murder. He has eluded the law for years, but he is now believed to be in the North Country. When a resident is murdered at the local retirement home, speculation about the killer's identity fills the headlines. Then another victim is found at Chez Prentice.

Trapped in her snowbound B&B with elderly new friend Hugh Channing, father of the first victim, and her baby, Janet, Amelia Prentice Dickensen and her staff are asking themselves: Where is the murderer? Is he really the Rasputin Killer? Could one of their guests be the infamous psychopath, known for his power to charm and his fine singing voice? Will publicity surrounding the discovery of a dead body in the basement put the B&B out of business?

Interspersed with humor and local Adirondack color, Amelia's latest murder case is especially chilling.

"In Incomplete Sentence, Kennedy takes well-drawn characters, puts them into situations that keep the reader turning pages, and ends with an unexpected but satisfying ending." --Richard L. Mabry, MD, award-winning author of medical thrillers

"There is nothing incomplete about Incomplete Sentence . . . a plethora of unexpected twists and turns . . . what delectable fare for mystery aficionados!" --Ann Ault, actress, singer, author, screenwriter

"Incomplete Sentence is a complete delight! This time Amelia gets thrown into a murder investigation while her best friend and crime buddy is MIA. Worse yet, where's the cat?"
--Vandi Clark, actress, former English teacher, and avid bibliomaniac

"Grabs your attention on the first page and doesn't let go . . . If you enjoy a good old-fashioned whodunnit with plenty of action and humor . . . you'll love Incomplete Sentence." --Lynne Wells Walding, author of Pastor McAlester's Bride, Winnoby Cabin, and Ian's Song

An intriguing, delightful mystery, Incomplete Sentence captured my attention right from the very beginning with the suspenseful prologue. This is the fourth book in the Miss Prentice Mystery Series by E. E. Kennedy. Although I had not read the first three installments, the author made it easy for me to jump right in and follow along while the characters developed and the storyline unfolded. Incomplete Sentence is a “cozy mystery” in my opinion, as the main setting of the story is a charming bed and breakfast and the small cast of characters have somewhat quirky, interesting personalities. I found the main female character to be quite funny, correcting everyone’s grammar. There is a warmth, fitting the cozy genre. However, it is also full of suspense, keeping mystery lovers turning the pages quickly, reveling in the tension and detective work that’s going on as well. I was held captive as the plot unfolded and the individual characters both intrigued and amused me. I loved the twists and turns and admit I was confounded at times when I thought I knew who the killer was, only to find out I was wrong, and was kept guessing. Incomplete Sentence definitely has an ending that satisfies the mystery lover's soul. I find a lot of mysteries lack the ability to hold the interest and attention of the reader, but not with this one. E.E. Kennedy has a clear, creative and strong literary voice with great forethought. Incomplete Sentence is very well written with smart, code-cracking intelligence. I recommend it to all mystery lovers, to diehard cozy mystery fans as well as more suspenseful mystery enthusiasts.

I recently came across a delightful cozy mystery! Incomplete Sentence is the fourth book in the Miss Prentice Cozy Mystery series. I thought that the premise for the book sounded intriguing and decided to give it a try, even though I had not read the earlier books in the series. I found that I did not have a problem learning the characters and diving into the story. It was charming! Full of humor and wit, along with a definite sense of coziness, Incomplete Sentence was fun to read. The heroine had quirks that made me laugh, such as constantly wanting to correct people’s grammar. The story was also filled with many interesting characters that gave it the “cozy” charm that these types of stories are known for. The idea that there was a killer on the loose, and perhaps it was someone who had been on the run for two decades, kept me reading. There were several possible suspects and I appreciated that the author kept the story fresh in this way. If you are a fan of cozy mysteries, I definitely recommend Incomplete Sentence.

INCOMPLETE SENTENCE is the fourth in a series of wonderful cozy mysteries by E.E.Kennedy, It is also a well-written stand-alone book. The author grabs your interest in the Prologue with an exciting beginning and the segment ends with ..." I was never to be seen alive again." It is a real page turner as you discover Miss Amelia and her friends involved in an amusing and complicated series of events that keep you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think you have the villain all figured out-- Wham.. Kennedy does it again! Her unique style provides us with many unexpected twists of events. The suspense is never over until the very last word. Kennedy is a real artist creating her clever plots in a way no one else can. She has a remarkable ability to intertwine the lives of her continuing characters while introducing you to new personalities. She skillfully interjects scenes and characters from her previous books making you glad you read the first three but does not leave the readers confused if they had not. I highly recommend INCOMPETENCE SENTENCE as a must on your reading list.

This was the first book that I have read by E.E. Kennedy and although it is the 4th book in her Miss Prentice Mystery series, it was a GREAT read. I enjoy any book that involves a Bed & Breakfast and a small group of people. E.E. Kennedy makes you feel right at home immediately. I was so at ease and relaxed while reading the story, there was a part of the story where everyone was drinking hot cocoa and I felt like I could smell it and wanted some myself. ( I didn't have any because I didn't want to stop reading. ) E.E. Kennedy kept me at the edge of my seat throughout the book with her 2 murders and the list of suspects. There were three potential suspects and I couldn't begin the figure it out. When I thought I had it figured out, something would happen and I was lost again. I also enjoyed that she involved a retirement home. That brought memories of visiting my grandfater when he was in a nursing home years ago. Fond memories. I'm sorry that I was unable to read the previous books in this series but you can count on me reading them from here on out. I just love Chez Prentice, Amelia and the rest of the gang and cannot wait to see what unfolds in the next book.

Favorite Quotes: “Chairman of Domestic Affairs!... It's just a stuck-up name for housekeeper, which is what I am.” “It was rumored that the man had the first nickel he'd ever earned. The evidence offered by his detractors as the fact that both his dark sunglasses and his pony tail were held in place by florist tape.” My Review: I am new to this author and series, and even though I started on the fourth installment, I was not at a loss to keep up as the story stood strong and solid on it's own legs. While I am sure it would have been easier and more fun to have read the previous books with the same recurring characters, it did not seem to be a necessity to follow the plot. This was a considerable deviation from my usual selections, but I have found that I occasionally enjoy having more variety and diversity. I was also in need of a lighter read, as well as something tame enough that I could finally provide a recommendation to my elderly mother's book club, and I have managed to procure that very thing. This book could even be shared with her Sunday School friends. The plot and characters were engaging and the story line and mystery were intriguing and enjoyable. It was a mild, easy, and entertaining read with several surprises and unexpected story twists.

Thrilling and unpredictable! Totally impressed by Kennedy's creation of characters. A completely wonderful mystery that keeps the reader turning pages from the beginning to end. Fantastic writing and storyline. I was totally engrossed by the story, that I got lost in it, as if I were with Amelia, almost as if I were Amelia. Incomplete Sentences is a must read, and it so remarkable, that I'm at a loss for more adjectives. Loved it! Will probably read it again! Look forward to her next book.
