About the Author

Donna Hill began her career in 1987 writing short stories for the confession magazines. Since that time she has more than 70 published titles to her credit since her first novel was released in 1990, and is considered one of the early pioneers of the African American romance genre. Three of her novels have been adapted for television. She has been featured in Essence, the New York Daily News, USA Today, Today’s Black Woman, and Black Enterprise among many others. She has appeared on numerous radio and television stations across the country and her work has appeared on several bestseller lists, including Essence, Emerge and The Dallas Morning News among others. She has received numerous awards for her body of work—which cross several genres-- including The Career Achievement Award, the first recipient of The Trailblazer Award, The Zora Neale Hurston Literary Award, The Gold Pen Award among others, as well as commendations for her community service, during her tenure as Director for Kianga House—a transitional residence for homeless teen mothers and their children. Donna co-wrote the screenplay Fire, which enjoyed limited theater release before going to DVD. As an editor she has packaged several highly successful novels, and anthologies, two of which were nominated for awards. She served as a writing instructor at The Frederick Douglass Creative Arts Center in New York. Donna has been a writing instructor with the Elders Writing Program sponsored by Medgar Evers College through Poets & Writers. Donna is a graduate of Goddard College with an MFA in Creative Writing and is currently in pursuit of her Ph.D. in Secondary & Adult Education. She is an Adjunct Professor of English at Essex County College, Baruch College, and Medgar Evers College. Donna lives in Brooklyn with her family.

Having read all of Donna Hill's books and with her being one of my all time favorite authors, I have to say I was very disappointed with this book. Too many people were involved in the story, the main characters had too many complications in their relationship, the passion was not heart felt and midway through I lost all interest in the ending. I am looking forward to her next book as my disappointment in indiscretions does not change my love of Donna and her books. Jan.

The description on the back of the book doesn't even begin to explain this complex, yet, intriguing tale that Mrs. Donna Hill has so elegantly spun for our enjoyment. All it states is the following: 'Khendra Phillips is at the height of her legal career when the handsome, smooth-talking attorney Sean Michaels bursts onto the scene and threatens to capture not only her love but her career in the legal field as well. Khendra's heartbroken past reminds her how much love can hurt and betray. Can she combat both the demons that plague her heart as well as the ensuing bitterness toward the man who shattered her dreams?'~~~~~~~With so little to go on, I must admit I brought the book because of the catchy title and the handsome looking fella on the front cover.~~~~~~~That being said I was not disappointed in my pick! I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and could not put it down from the moment I picked it up. I was up until 3:30 a.m. reading it. Well worth the bags under my eyes! The characters were definitely memorable. And the storyline flowed effortlessly. There were a few typos, but it didn't hinder the flow of the story. The instant heat and passion between Khendra and Sean was definitely sizzlin'. Sean was quite the irresistible and relentless charmer and you couldn't help but fall victim to all his sweet, smooth talking ways. And then, you couldn't help but despise him when you felt the sting of his betrayal and how he 'played' Khendra...or did he?!!!! This story had so many exciting twists and turns I couldn't help but get caught up in what could only be described as an AMAZINGLY thrilling ride of romance and mystery. KUDOS to you, Mrs. Hill!
