The love story between Ines de Castro and King D Pedro I is one of the most tragic, intense and powerful in European history. Their story has become a legend and it is difficult to separate fact from fiction, where the only certainty that remains is the element of forbidden, but everlasting, love. With her latest work, Ines' Words, Haidji brings her unique and magical style to this subject and shows not only the enduring power of the legend, but of love itself.

Using her talent for elegant prose, Haidji retells the story of Ines and King Pedro while artfully connecting the past and present as the protagonist, Mariana, is inexplicably drawn towards places from Ines' world. I received a free paperback copy of this book with the option of leaving an honest review. Haunting, beautiful and tragic, the echoes of Ines' and King Pedro's love whisper to Mariana and draw her into a dreamlike state as she relives Ines' memories. Haidji has taken a legend and put a unique spin on using her brand of lyrical prose to create a timeless work that captures the essence of Ines' and King Pedro's legendary and timeless love.
This was a tragic love story well-written. It is a unique style combining prose and poetry. Easy to read and very enjoyable.
