About the Author

J. Woods is a Toronto based writer, mother, and non-conformist. She lives between the space of her green tea and humming laptop when she isn’t chasing after her free spirited daughter. She has studied too many things to count including radio broadcasting and entrepreneurship. Grasping at sanity, she realized writing stories about her insane thoughts was easier than explaining them to a doctor. Not to mention cheaper.

I absolutely love the way that Woods writes.  It’s real and natural without becoming sloppy or lazy.  It is the perfect balance that allows the reader to immerse themselves in the story and really get to know the characters.  Woods is very visually descriptive while still allowing you to use your imagination.  She does all this while crafting an intricate and captivating tale that will take you out of this world.   The flashbacks that we see in this story make the whole thing seem so much more real.  As do the journal entries.  Both of these elements draw you fully into the main character’s psyche, allowing you to know her intimately.  It really allows you to connect with and understand her.  The rest of the characters are also quite intricately developed.  Even though we’ve gotten to know them in previous novels, we still learn new elements of their characters that allow us a much closer bond with them.  And you do bond with Woods’ characters, rather than simply meet them.   Overall, this was a brilliant ending to the series (that really does need to be read in order).  That said, I’m so sad to see this series end.  I’d love to continue journeying with the various characters and spend more time on Daysiine.  I’m definitely hoping for more from this intriguingly talented author.
