Informally Educated: A True Tale of Child Abuse, Survival, and Murder by Kennesaw Taylor

1967, 8 yr old Davie's world was turned upside down. Traveling with a madman who was without conscious, Davie was physically and mentally abused at every turn. Using every semblance of courage, he fought day after day just to survive not knowing which brutal attack would be the last for him and his family.
This is a shocking tale of abuse, manipulation and yes, bravery, as told by a survivor. Kennesaw Taylor shares his story with others to let them know that there is hope. Let the cycle of abuse be broken.
Traveling the country to promote Informally Educated and to try to raise awareness about the abuse and domestic violence he endured during his childhood. Trying to save one child or woman from what he went through, trying to help others break the cycle of abuse they are trapped in.
Kennesaw is also a humor columnist for several small papers. Follow Kennesaw on kennesawtaylor.com or on facebook.

This book has a lot of heart: heart wrenching, heart stopping, heart pounding, heart warming, heart breaking. I bought this book at the author's first speaking engagement. Kennesaw is a down to earth, normal guy with a humor and wit that tempers the horror revealed in this book. Engaging and raw, the story will make you cry, laugh, wince and most importantly, THINK.

First, I would like to commend the author for giving resources to report child abuse and ways to help victims of child abuse at the end of the book. This rather Dickensian tale contained many philosophical truths. It definitely had my interest from beginning to end. My only gripes with it were that I really don't want to hear about the sexual fantasies of a child, and the editing was horrid. Really, could I become a proofreader for Nook Books? I know I could proofread better than whoever does it for this guy. Really, Navel instead of Naval? That's just one example. Still, a good value at 99c.

I found this book to be a real emotional roller-coaster ....I couldn't put it down. I still have images in my head...but I don't think I would have been strong enough to live thru what this boy did..He learned what NOT to do to others.....

This novel is written from a unique perspective. Growing up without much formal education, the author gives you a very real perspective of his life growing up. This novel is a fast read with details that are strong and vivid without being unbearable. A true story of overcoming awful circumstances.
