They call him the Pope on Dope.
Danny Fisk has a secret no one outside his family would believe.
Danny sees things others can’t: like ghosts and the future. In his teens, he used drugs to escape his gifts, but with help from his family, Danny cleaned up his life. For fifteen years, he lived the American Dream. He had a loving wife, kids, a great job, and proud parents.
That ended when renewed pressure from his abilities drove him back to drug abuse. Now, Danny’s on a mission to save as many as he can from the streets that would destroy them all.
Pursued by corrupt cops, drug cartels and his own inner demons, Danny must find a way to survive his gifts. If not, he’ll continue a downward spiral that could cost him the lives of those he’s trying to save.
As well as his own.

Danny Fisk has a lot of problems, but the biggest by far is his drug addiction. But, this time it is different. He honestly believes that God has given him a quest- to become the Pope on Dope. He must help save other addicts from a corrupt system. However, Danny is about to be thrown a curveball. Things are not what they seem. Caroll has given us the insight into the mind of an addict complete with betrayal, loss, brain fog, and ultimately, redemption. Now, the story does start slow, but trust me, keep going. You won’t be disappointed.
Innocent Blood tells the story of Danny Fisk, a one-time drug addict who falls into addiction again after many years clean. He believes God told him to become involved in the drug scene again, to become the Pope on Dope. He believes that ultimately, he's to save those that Stormer has stolen and addicted, the whole system is corrupt, yet no one will believe the two time addict. But, what Danny discovers about himself isn't at all what he thought it would be. Or who he thought he was. This is a convoluted story of love, loss, betrayal, corruption, addiction, and redemption. It's twisted and intertwined. A puzzle to unwind, best for those who enjoy an unusual read. At times, I was torn, wanting Danny to realize what he was doing. And, at other times, I wanted his mother to acknowledge him for more than just being an addict (she does as she remembers his sweet child's face). She's busy denying who she is, what she can do, and it isn't until she realizes that, and writes Danny's book, that she realizes while denying herself, she's also denied him. I wasn't at all sure of this book, it starts slows, but quickly builds into an excellent read. I ended up loving it. Addiction is never easy to beat. It rips the heart out of those who love, allowing it to die a little more with each disappointment. Love is the only thing that it easily given and acknowledged. One can only hope it is enough of a lifeline. All in all, five fairy kisses for this reader. I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
