Innocent in Las Vegas: A Humorous Tiffany Black Mystery (Tiffany Black Mysteries, #1) by A.R. Winters

A Laugh-Out-Loud Cupcakes and Crime Caper

"I tell myself every day that I don't hate my job. It doesn't pay as much as stripping or being a cocktail waitress, but I get to wear more clothes... Still, there's a reason I'm trying to leave the madness of the casino pit to become a Private Investigator..."

Cupcake-loving croupier Tiffany Black is determined to leave her job at the casino for good. She's one small step away from acquiring her Private Investigator license, and has her eye on the prize.

Accepting her first real case - investigating the murder of casino-mogul Ethan Becker - should be exciting. Instead, things spiral out of control and Tiffany finds herself in over her head, as she confronts secretive suspects, corrupt casino henchmen and her mysterious, ex-Special Forces bodyguard.

Tiffany's poker-hustling Nanna and pushy parents want her to find a nice man and settle down, but Tiffany just wants to track down the real murderer before he finds her first...

Loved this book. Twists and turns. Wondering who done it. And laughing at the funny bits. You'll love it! Not quite a cozy, since it's set in Vegas, but it's a clean, light-hearted read.

This book was okay. I thought long and hard about what to rate it. There were some minor editing problems, transitions from one scene to another were almost nonexistant, the plot was okay, At least the heroine had a different type of employment. There was humor, a mild romance, some sex, but there was also F#@K , my least favorite word, used excessively. I will not buy any more books by this author. For adults. AD

Said to be "laugh out loud "funny. I found nothing in this book funny . Plot and characters are very similar to Stephanie Plum novels except lacking the humor and originality. Fair to good writing... but unlikely to read more from this author as there was little to recommend this book.

Good story, well written but supporting characters lifted directly from Stephanie Plum series. Too close for comfort.

Very very very similar to Janet Evanovich...except Stephanie's dad doesnt talk. Everything else was like a mirror with a different setting and names. With that said...it's a nice, lighthearted read. I would read the second one.

There are several reviews below that mention excessive profanity and one mentions this book contained sex ... I am wondering if they read the same book or if they meant to leave their comment for a different book? There were certainly some minor editing issues and whether or not it mirrors other plots by other authors; I can't say.   I enjoyed the quirky personality of the main character and the setting of the plot.  The author did a good job of keeping me guessing as to who the killer was; the ending caught me completely off guard.  I would agree; it was a nice, light-hearted book and I would read the next one.

It's a fun book about a young woman who is working to get her PI license and has just taken on her first case.

I truly enjoyed this book. An easy read, fun and entertaining. Very much like the Janet Evanovich book series. If you like Janet's books, you will like this book about Tiffany Black. Going to read the next one.

Its a very good read. Makes you keep guessing. However I feel the writer used many of the ideas from the Stephanie Plum series. Way too many similarities for my comfort.

Deja vu.....need to get an original concept. Janet Evanovich already covered this.

Innocent in Las Vegas is a fun, little mystery. Tiffany Black is a twenty-something in Las Vegas. She is just finishing her qualifications for a Private Investigator’s license and feels ready to take on her first case. That’s her day job, by night she is a dealer at a local casino. She gets a call from a girl she went to school with who has been arrested for the murder of her husband. She claims she’s innocent, and she wants Tiffany to prove it. At first glance, Sophia certainly looks guilty. She was a stripper before she married. Her husband and his family, are casino owners, and the husband was a known womanizer. The gun that killed him was found in Sophia’s bedside table. The family and acquaintances all think she married for the money. Tiffany starts by interviewing friends and family. She doesn’t get very far before she is being threatened by a couple of scary goons. Sophia hires a security man to protect her, a good-looking security man. There’s a whole lot of misunderstandings about this relationship when Stone accompanies her to dinner with her parents and grandmother. Tiffany keeps digging, but can she uncover the truth? I really enjoyed this story. It was not a heavy read, but the murderer was not obvious either. Tiffany is delightful as she is feeling her way through her first case. This would be a great book for a vacation read.

I enjoyed the book until I got to the end. Dont know what happened but page 303 was skipped and then after 304 it goes back to 298. No idea what the ending was, very disappointing!

Seriously, This book is SUCH a carbon copy of the Stephanie Plum series. Down to every character. Stephanie- Tiffany, Ranger- Stone, Grandma Masure- Nana. I stopped reading before the "New Joe" character was introduced. It almost makes me wonder if this is a joke. How can an author ripoff an entire cast of characters and plot?

Very well-written who-done-it! Kudos to A. R. Winters! I loved the main character, Tiffany Black, and could identify with her as she tried to solve the murders while acquiring PI skills. It is a clean, light-hearted read with humor, a mystery or two, and a hint of romance. Nothing spices up a book like a little light-hearted flirting with good looking guys. This story line introduces two such hunky men and it promises to be interesting. If you like humor and mystery blended, you will enjoy this novel: there is always room for another good P.I. mystery line! I’m looking forward to A. R. Winters’ next book.

Title: Innocent in Las Vegas - Tiffany Black Mystery 1 Author: A. R. Winters Published: 9-10-13 Publisher: A. R. Winters Pages: 217 Genre: Mystery, Thrillers & Suspense Sub Genre: Women Sleuths, Private Investigator; Humor & Satire ISBN: 9780983740230 ASIN: B00ITNWAVM Reviewer: DelAnne Reviewed For: NetGalley My Rating: 4 1/2 Stars . There are many similarities between Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum character and Tiffany Black, but the same could be said of Gretchen Archer's Davis Way as well. The one thing I do agree is that all three carry the same vein of humor that will have you chuckling through the story. Just as I adore Davis's grandmother who often steals the show so does Tiffany's. With a touch of sarcasm and a good size pinch of mystery A. R. Winters has put together a series that will hold you so close you will soon believe the characters are people you know and call friends. In true cozy fashion this is a clean mystery that will entertain you without the darkness of more serious thrillers bogged down with death, blood and gore. A definite must follow series. Innocent in Las Vegas is an excellent way to spend a lazy afternoon curled up in a comfortable chair reading. My rating is 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
