Leading civil rights attorneys Peter Neufeld and Barry Scheck of The Innocence Project commissioned photographer Taryn Simon to travel across the United States photographing and interviewing individuals who were convicted of heinous crimes of which they were innocent. Simon photographed these innocents at sites of particular significance to their illegitimate conviction: the scene of the crime, misidentification, arrest, or alibi. Simon’s portraits are accompanied by a commentary by Neufeld and Scheck.

All the people portrayed in this book are actors, hired by attention-seeking lawyers who can't win enough cases to get famous, and so resort to sad projects like this. There is no truth in this book. It is propoganda against our very fair justice system, and it's maker should be ashamed. Hopefully, no one will be sucked into this book's outrageous lies.
If you care about justice in our country, this book is a MUST READ! It will shock you! It doesn't take long to realize this could be YOU in the book instead of THEM! Imagine for a moment, standing in the wrong place at the wrong time, then charged and convicted for a crime you never committed. Imagine going to prison for years for rape or murder, without doing the crime! How do you get your life back? Say, for example, you get stopped by police for running a red light. The officer snaps your photo-- you don't know why-- and then? Weeks later, your photo is yanked out of a 'line-up' by some vulnerable victim-- and now you're a suspect for a hideous crime you never knew took place-- worse still, your family and friends now desert you, because the allegation seems too serious to be 'false'--- hey folks-- this is NOT science fiction! This is happening in our country while you go about your daily routine-- what if you were next? Would you care if others were concerned THEN? Go and study the faces found in this book-- it'll make you weep-- the next face could be yours--- read the book- !!
