Overview

An inspirational story of unbelievable courage and maturity in a 14-year old boy!

Dalton Hobby is no ordinary boy. Made a ward of the State after his mother dies and his father suddenly leaves town without him, he never smiles, never laughs, and almost never speaks. Bounced from one foster home to another, his caseworker has no idea what to do with him. Finally, she gets an idea: send him to an all-boys boarding school, so he can, at the very least, have stability throughout the school year.

On a rainy afternoon, 14 year-old Dalton arrives at Capling Hall School for Boys carrying a small, beat-up yellow suitcase and a large green garbage bag, that he immediately hides inside the hollow of a dead tree. One by one, the dark and wonderful secrets that garbage bag holds are exposed, revealing just how tortured, and yet extraordinary, Dalton Hobby really is.

"One of the most poignant books about bullying you'll EVER read. A beautifully written book about a tragic and yet amazingly talented teenage boy named Dalton. It should be required reading in our schools. Every parent should read this too. -- Nancy Phillips Review, Amazon.com
