You will adore Dewey and his furry friends Animals always bring joy and happiness in our lives. My first animals when I arrived in America is a cat. I named her Shadow as she always follow me wherever I go around the house. I missed her so very badly. Reading Inspector Dewey reminds me of my cat. This book will surely melt your heart. The cats are so adorable especially Dewey. They are playful at the same time overload with cuteness. You will love reading this book so as your kids or grand-kids. I also LOVED the illustrations of the book. It looks so cute. My summer babe loves it too as she loves to draw. We both highly recommend this book if you love cat the most or animals in general. Prepare to be inspired by Inspector Dewey, his friends and their bravery.

Dewey lives with Thumper, Lily, and Anna his human. One night as they were getting ready for bed a strange man is seen pulling up in front of their house. Dewey is on top of things and watches him. He then alerts Thumper, Lily, and Anna. It’s up to Inspector Dewey to protect his family and home. This is a great story! Dewey is such a brave kitty. He watches out for his family, even when they don’t really take him seriously, and saves the day. This book is beautifully illustrated and had me cheering for Dewey. This is a great story to read to children and to have them start reading. I also love the fact that 50% of profits go to help families in need get veterinary care. If the story didn’t warm my heart that fact did. This is a great story for kids and adults alike. Make sure to get your copy today. Inspector Dewey is a cute children’s book. It has super cute drawings – mainly of Inspector Dewey and his three best friends; Thumper, Lily, and Anna. The book and story make a great read aloud to the younger kids, but I would recommend that a child probably 4th grade and above could read it without many struggles. Some of the vocabulary is quite large and some of the words are words not commonly used. Even reading aloud with the kids, some words had to be explained. I think our favorite parts were when Dewey would get excited and use a fish as his saying – “miserable mullet”, “great grouper”. In general, the book is very readable. The lettering is bigger than normal which makes it easier to read with the kids. It is longer than what my kids are used to reading aloud too, but it is such a fun book to read with the kids and together as a family! We are cat lovers in our home so reading about Inspector Dewey, Thumper and Lily was something we all enjoyed!

Sometimes finding the right words to describe a children’s story book can be difficult. Other times it takes only one word – aah! That’s the case when you read INSPECTOR DEWEY by Kristen Heimerl. The amazing illustrations by Irene Bofill bring this charming cat and his family to life. The beautiful drawings will delight children, as well as adults, as Dewey goes on his adventure. The rich details of the illustrations makes you want to reach out and pat the cats. The enchanting tale of this feline will bring smiles, surprise and laughter to youngsters of all ages. Readers (and listeners) will quickly be drawn into the antics of Dewey and his feline friends, Thumper and Lily, along with their human, Anna. You don’t have to be a cat lover to enjoy this charming tale. However, those with cats can appreciate Dewey’s humor, grace and protective instinct. This delightful book shares a tale of mystery and suspense with youngsters in ways that doesn’t involve nightmarish visions. INSPECTOR DEWEY will capture hearts and have readers clamoring for more. FTC Full Disclosure – A copy of this book was sent to me as part of the author’s virtual book tour in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review. The thoughts are completely my own and given honestly and freely.

Reviewing this adorable beautiful book was an experience. It came in the mail in a big envelope and inside it was wrapped in yellow tissue paper tied with a bow. It also came with a note, and a doorknob hanger with the message, "If you need to paws, I'll keep your spot." So sweet. What a beautiful presentation of the book! My son can tell a good children's book from the first glance and this one had his instant approval. He thought it was so cool that it was told from the point of view of a cat and that it was based on a true story. We loved that although this is a children's story it was intelligently told using different words like swizzle, skirmish, patina, pilfer, strategizing, diversion, etc. Inspector Dewey is lovable as are Thumper and Lily, but he was the storyteller and one can't help but be charmed by his feline talk and leadership qualities. His exclamations were priceless. "Crusty cod!" or "Freaking flounder!" He considers himself a mastermind and is self assured as he describes how, with "superfeline finesse" he helped nab a robber. Utterly charming... It's clear that there is love in this family, between Anna and Inspector Dewey and big Thumper and Lily who always gets her way. The illustrations are creative, delightful and endearing. My son said that they made him want to reach out to pet the fluffy, smiling cats. They just won you over. One would never guess that this was Bofill's first picture book. Her illustrations were just perfect for this story. I showed this book to my sisters, one who is a mother of two young boys and is eager to read it to them and the other who travels the world and holds a top project management position. She just oohed and aahed at the cute story and the lovely illustrations. Our verdict: a book for all ages, and animal lovers, but especially those who love cats and kitties.

The moment I saw this book, I knew I had to get my hands on it. A detective cat, and one as cute as the one pictured on the cover, was bound to win over the hearts of my kids (and probably me too). I'll just start with the illustrations because those are the heart of picture books, and in this case, are especially enjoyable. I and my children fell in love with the artwork. The characters are lovingly illustrated and so enjoyable to watch that we were flipping through the pages the second we got the cover open.Of course, my daughter wants a cat just like Dewey now. The illustrations never act as an after-thought but accompany the story, adding a bit of fun as well as clarity. I, myself, could look at them again and again. The story is cute! There's a nice amount of mystery, adventure and tension but never anything which could push the borders of being inappropriate for kids. It was nice to see that a good mystery doesn't have to involve violence or injury or any of those sorts of things at all. Just like the mystery itself, Dewey's sleuth techniques are kept fairly believable with a small dash of fantasy. This lovely mixture had my daughter certain that her pets might be secret super sleuths too. She's just waiting for the fitting mystery to prove her right. I'm hoping this is the beginning of a series. Not only is Dewey a great character, but his sidekicks are sweet and hold so much potential. All characters are thoroughly introduced in the beginning (something my kids weren't totally hooked on and I found a bit long-winded), but it gave us the impression that there will be several Dewey adventures still to come. If this is the case, I found the descriptions appropriate. The story is told in a child friendly way with humored phrases peppered in. I loved these, although many of them went over my kids heads. Some of these phrases as well as the vocabulary will require explanation, which is by no means a bad thing. I simply suggest that parents read this with their children the first few times. And even then, I wouldn't recommend this to the youngest readers since the descriptions and wording are more fit for school kids and a little long for the litter ones. The youngest, however, will still love the illustrations. My children especially loved the mixture of sounds and character reactions - claimed it was original and so much fun. This is a high quality book made, written and illustrated with tons of love. It's a joy to read and, I think kids 5+ will enjoy it. But parents beware - your kids might be begging for a pet cat detective of their own. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
