Read the first three Inspector Hobbes books as a trilogy and could not miss the fourth in the series! Don't miss the hapless antics of the sidekick, the Inspector's bone crunching therapy sessions, the toothsome creations of "the lass", as well as her collection of teeth.....the characters and creatures inhabiting the world of Hobbes will consume your imagination and provide hours of enjoyment (depending upon how fast you read)!

Welcome to the slightly off-kilter world of Inspector Hobbes as seen through the eyes of the amazingly inept Andy Caplet, food critic at large. These stories combine the deductive prowress of Sherlock Holmes coupled with the casual insanity of the Addams family, with a good dash of comedy thrown in. Andy reminds me of the misfortunes that occured to Inspector Clouseau and Cheif Inspector Dreyfuss. He's so unlucky that even black cats would flee screaming rather than cross his path. Honestly, for a good read filled with puns, high and low comedy, innuendos and outright groaners, you've got to try this series. I eagerly await the next installment.

Inspector Hobbs is indeed a character worth following. Well written, fun, mysterious and yet quite comical, I look forward to the next Cozy Mystery.

If you enjoy unusual protagonist and off beat comedy then you will love this series. Hobbes, who consumes raw bones, worries over his friend Andy, who is being charmed by a woman while his wife is away. Even in his heroic escapades the poor man is accident prone. Hobbes is sure Andy is being set up for something, but what he is not sure.. A fun quick read that you will gobble up. Eclectic characters both human and nonhuman will charm you into visiting Sorenchester often. My rating of "Inspector Hobbes and the Bones is 4.5 out of 5 stars.

“Cosy” murder mystery among the unhumans – not for me The fourth novel in this series, this mystery thriller takes place in a Cotswold town with the annoying narrator, a clumsy fool called Andy Caplet (the type of humour which permeates this book), aiding Inspector Hobbes, a “unhuman”. The story involves all sorts of supernatural goings-on with two murders to solve. The style is humorous and light but I did not enjoy it much. There are many attempts at humour, some of which work, and it helps to have a good knowledge of British popular culture. Quite entertaining but I'm starting to think that “cosy” murder stories are not really my thing.
