Instant Prairie Family (Love Inspired Historical Series) by Bonnie Navarro

Will Hopkins's new housekeeper is the prettiest young woman he's ever seen—and that's the problem. Will thought Abigail Stewart would be a middle-aged matron well suited to hardscrabble prairie life. Even if his young sons are entranced by her wholesome kindness, his only option is to send Abby back east. For the sake of propriety…and his guarded heart.

Answering the newspaper advertisement was Abby's chance of escape from her unhappy home. But now her employer has turned out to be a rugged widower instead of a widow. A marriage in name only will allow her to remain long enough to find another job. Or until a misunderstanding becomes the means to a second-chance family.…

Somewhat predictable plott-wise, but good story nonetheless. I really enjoyed the characters. Abby was so sweet--the perfect mother for two young boys. And Will was just the man she needed for a husband-- the caring, protective type... except for the fact that he is protecting her from himself. I loved getting to know the secondary characters as well. Will's sons were adorable, but wary of women at first. Jake, Will's nephew seemed nice...I wish the author would have written more about him--perhaps in a sequel??? And Colin the preacher was a good friend, listening and not being afraid to tell his friend some things he might not want to hear, but needed to be told. This is another character I would love the author to feature in his own book... anyway, glad I read this story. Hope to hear more from this author.

Did you hear the one about...................................................................................................................................... The young healthy couple that gets married (convenience marriage) and he refuses to sleep with her for her own good. You did? Me too. How about the one where he wants her to leave even though he loves her... but its because she deserves better . Yeah? Thought so. I never understand the I love you you should leave me plot and this one seems particularly thin. Abby has left a situation where she was fighting off her groping brother in law to wind up becoming a successful farmers wife. She was pretty happy with that. But our hero farmer Will thinks she'll be better off working as a housekeeper in the city and asks his mother in Philly to find her a job. Huh? There is a nice religious message at the end but I paid for a story. I think the book was an excuse to deliver the writers message. Be honest next time ........it works for Joyce Myers.
