Intentions of the Earl by Rose Gordon

Will he secure his future by ruining hers, or will she ruin his plans by securing him?

A new twist on the old fortune hunter plot puts an impoverished earl in a position to gain his fortune only by ruining an innocent's reputation without offering marriage. The innocent he's selected, however, has no plans to settle for anything less than marriage and will go to almost any length to secure him.

With no other means for an income, the impoverished Andrew Black, Earl of Townson, makes an agreement that will put a definite end to his eight year poverty streak. But, in order to gain his fortune he must do only one simple thing: ruin an innocent young lady's reputation enough to make her flee to America.

Brooke Banks isn't interested in marriage, or so she thinks. She came to London to have a good time, and that's exactly what she's doing. Widely known for her tendency to flout the rules, she suspects nothing when a handsome stranger appears on her doorstep.

Thirteen days, a handful of kisses and one scandalous situation later, Andrew and Brooke will have to choose to stick to their original plans, or decide if a life together is worth the risk.

Didn't expect this book to be as good as it was. True it isnt perfectly written but all of the other free books I usually get are pretty know the 'you get what you pay for kind of thing.' However you get way more than that with this one. The storyline was very original, the leading lady fiesty and brass, and from the writing alone the Earl sure could kiss!! Gave me shivers! Highly recommend this book. ##42 yr old mom of 4 who reads atleast 5 novels a week.

Well written, 700+ page book. Nothing too original, yet still enjoyable. Great for free!

This book was witty and refreshing. I would recommend it to any who loves a good story. Agreeing on terms to ruin a young lady, the earl never imagined that he would develop feelings for the chit. When everything starts to unravel he has to make a decision and she has to over come her stubbornness. The characters are well written, the story is cleanly written and very enjoyable.

This was the first book I've read by Rose Gordon, and I'm glad I found her. I won't do a synopsis on the book since other reviewers have already done that. I loved the characters, the setting, and the plot. Ms. Gordon's writing is solid, and I loved the pacing. This was an enjoyable read, and I plan to continue the series and see what happens with the other sisters.

It starts off a little slow but picks up and takes off. The story gets down right comical in some parts. I am recommending this book to my friends.

The book was an easy read. The relationships between the earls family are a little confused . The earl is a very weak character. I didn't like him.

I read the second book, Liberty for Paul, first, and it was hard to decide which book I enjoyed more. I finally decided this one is my favorite, so far, in the books Rose Gordon has written. I have yet to read book 3, so we'll see if my opinion changes. Anyway, this was a fun read. Andrew Black is not one of those rakes I often read about in regency romances, and that was a huge selling point for me. Instead, Andrew is coerced into agreeing to ruin the reputation of one of the daughters in the Banks family to get them to run back to America. What endeared me to Andrew right away was his reluctance to do it. This is a hero with a conscience who feels torn between doing what is right and doing what he knows is wrong. I really liked this hero. Rose Gordon's heroes are men I'd fall in love with in real life, so it's no wonder Brooke Banks fell in love with Andrew. He shows up at the residence where Brooke and her family are staying, and when the two first meet, the chemistry is immediate. She fools him into believing she decorated a gaudy room, which was hilarious. From there, the two get to know each other, and they share a few kisses. I will say the kisses are some of the best scenes I've read. Rose Gordon has a way of making the chemistry between these two jump off the page. Andrew does succeed in ruining Brooke's reputation (and if anyone wonders, they didn't go all the way but the scene was pretty hot), and yes, they were discovered. I won't spoil the rest of the book except to say the end of this book had the most romantic ending I've ever read. All I can say is any woman would be thrilled to be married to a man like Andrew! So if you like to laugh, love tender and sensual scenes, and want to read about heroes who are sweethearts, this book will fit perfectly.

The story is a gem...plot twists that I didn't see coming, were a real surprise. I didn't care how abrupt the ending was. I realize now all 3 books in the series are out, and I am hoping that Brooke and Andrew story is continued. I didn't care of Liberty at all in this book, and book 2 is about Liberty and Paul. I am looking forward to reading about Madison's story though. Since this book was free, you can't complain much. Overall, I did like the way the author writes. This is my first book by this author and since it was free I decided to give it a try. (ljb)

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Brooke and Andrew have great chemistry. Andrew fooled himself into thinking Gateway's plan would bring about some redemption without hurting Brooke, too badly. Loved his reunion with her.

This book is a first in a series of three sisters. I have read two so far and liked them both. I'm sure the third will be just as good. They can be read alone but the characters move along to the other books so it is more interesting to continue reading about them even though the next book focuses on another sister. I have really enjoyed reading Rose Gordon's books and will also read the groom series that follows this series.

I liked this story, great set up for the next 2 books. Love the strong ladies, the passionate men in this series. Be sure to read the next 2 books- its good to read more about the fun to love girls and even the evil schemer shows his true colors. Worth the read.

This is the story of the Earl of Townsend and Brooke Banks. Brooke’s family is in London visiting relatives. They are from America but Mrs. Banks is hopeful that she can find husbands for her daughters among the Ton. The story starts out with Brooke in the garden with the Duke of Gateway and he has kissed her and is trying to take liberties with her body. She slaps him and requests he return her to the ball. He is livid and calls her a tease. They return to the ball where he walks away and Brooke returns to her sister, Liberty, who is the sister who is all about following the rules. She gives Brooke a tongue lashing whereupon Brooke retaliates, loudly creating a bit of a scandal with her yelling. They Banks vacate the party and return home with Brooke in disgrace. This starts the story with a bang but it really takes off when the Duke decides to get revenge on Brooke for acting the way she did. Apparently he has a reputation for seeking revenge in the nastiest of ways. He finds the Earl who he has already divested of his estate and tells him he will return his estate to him with all debts paid if he will ruin one of the daughters. The Earl is not willing at first but is pushed into it by the Duke who knows how to push his buttons. The Earl sets out to call on the girls the next day. This starts a story that is humorous, interesting and thankfully ends happily. Very good.

Andrew is in financial trouble. His "friend" offers to return Andrew's estate to hem debt free, all he needs to do is ruin the reputation of a young American girl. Brooke's family has come to England to visit family. She is a bit wild. When Andrew meets her, he can't help but like her and enjoys her company. How is he to ruin her and protect her at the same time. As romantic novels go, this is pretty basic. There are very few surprises, but it is a sweet story. You even get the beginnings of another love story between Brooke's sister, Liberty and a young minister, Paul. I would recommend this for a nice nighttime relaxing read. I may read book 2 of the series Liberty for Paul.

This is truly a well written romantic page turner. It also has little side stories which seem to lay the ground work for other books in the series. That; I think is a smarter strategy than cliffhangers. This makes me curious enough to buy the other books cliffhangers only manage to infuriate me. Not a cliffhanger. Highly recommend.
