International Harvester Tractors, 1955-1985 by Ken Updike

This colorful history chronicles the final three decades of International operations, including the six-cylinder_s marketplace domination and the abundance of model choices in the 1960s, the redefinition of farm tractor power and comfort in the 1970s, and the end of an era in the 1980s. Model and design changes are highlighted in scenic color photographs showcasing faithfully restored Number Series tractors throughout the US. Filled with period ads, archival photos, plus an appendix of serial and parts numbers.

I have been waiting for a book like this. This covers everything from the hundred series to the last tractor produced by farmall works. It also covers, step by step changes of each 'new' model, 'new' tecnology pioneered by IH, horsepower figures and the writer shares some of his experiances as well. Along with some great photos too. This is the perfect book to add to your collection. If you know some or even if know it all, you'll still benefit from reading this book.

This book is a must-buy for anyone who likes IH tractors. It covers all of IH domestic tractor production from the Hundred Series rollout to the production of the last 5488 at Farmall Works on May 14, 1985. It is well-written and engrossing. If you like RED, you will love this book!
