Overview

Our hope as parents is that our kids don’t experience any inappropriate online activity. But how do we prepare them? What will they do if someone makes them feel uncomfortable? What if a stranger contacts them? How will they respond? Educating your children is the key.
Protecting our children 24/7 just isn’t possible. There are too many devices and too many ways to connect. Our goal shouldn’t be to hide the internet from our children, but give them the tools and trust to handle whatever they find.
As a parent, youth educator and internet professional with almost 20 years' experience, I’ve concluded that there are two essential internet safety principles for kids. If followed, they can help protect your kids in any situation.
1. Internet safety is more about your relationship with your children than about the technology.
2. Internet safety is about knowing as much as or more than your kids do about the internet.
This book is about how to better educate you and your children on how to be safe online.
