Interview with Mrs. Berlinski based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
Wow. A girl friend recommended 'Mrs. Berlinsky' to me. I picked it up even though I had no time to read it. Magical. Mysterious. Couldn't put it down. Had visions of Scorcese's filming of 'The Age of Innocence' dancing in my mind with each new paragraph. Later I realized that story was based on the little-discussed life of the author's great-aunt! One of those 'family secrets' hushed up in earlier centuries where propriety was prized above love. The writer's writing style - and use of dialogue - is a gift. ** I hope an excerpt from the book is put onto this website so potential readers can become as entranced by it as I was.** The book's opening scene is so reminescent of Wharton's introduction of Madame Olenska at the opera. Mrs B - a mysterious woman present at her husband's elegant concerts - but little known -- until after her husband died. Then Mrs. Berlinsky gives one interview - revealing the mysteries and romance of her life - to one fictional reporter. Wow. Buy this! :-)
