Overview

Into the Darkness by V. C. Andrews

Despite the brilliant sunshine, I felt a chill surge through me. I paused and looked at the house next door. Was Brayden just another one of my fantasies?

Bestselling author V.C. Andrews portrays her most romantic couple since Troy and Heaven in the Casteel series…in this twisting tale of desire and obsession, reality and dreams.
As lovely as one of the precious gems at her parents’ jewelry store, Amber Taylor is shy and introspective—qualities misread by others as being stuck-up and superior. Facing a long, lonely summer working at the family shop, Amber’s world lights up when the Matthews family suddenly moves into the house next door, a property that has stood neglected for the longest time. And when she meets Brayden Matthews, an only child just like her, Amber soon becomes infatuated with this handsome, quirky young man who seems to know her innermost feelings almost before she does, who takes her places she never knew existed in her small town. Their connection is electrifying, unlike anything Amber’s felt before. But as quickly as he appears, Brayden vanishes into the darkness. And finding out the truth about him will push Amber Taylor to the edge of madness….
An atmospheric journey of passion and suspense that builds to a jolting, unforgettable finale, Into the Darkness showcases V.C. Andrews at her best.

This book was being marketed by the publisher as having a a couple as romantic as Troy and Heaven of the Casteel series. I strongly disagree. Since Andrew Neiderman has taken over writing VC Andrews books they have lost the maturity that was so strong in Virginia Andrews's own novels under the VC Andrews name. Neiderman tries but he simply cannot make Brayden Matthews match Virginia's Troy Tatterton and Amber Taylor is nothing like Heaven Casteel. What made Troy and Heaven's story so strong is that they came from completely different worlds..Heaven a life of poverty and Troy a life of luxury he fought against his whole life. Amber does not endure the struggles Heaven had to before she met Troy. And the difference between Brayden and Amber...leaves this reader shaking her head in utter confusion wondering why this particular twist was chosen as a plot device. Any fans wanting longing to read about the most romantic VCA couple should go back and read Dark Angel instead and forget about this novel it does not deliver on the promise the publisher made

Terrible. It is not classic V C Andrews at all. If you like love stories with no crazy people, then pick this up. If you like the twistedness of V C Andrews, then do not read this. It will just let you down.

I too fell under the idea this was a second book of the vampire series and find it difficult to enjoy this book because of that. I wouldnt say its awful but the least he could do is not give it a title so much similar to the last vampire book!!! Most if not all of the v.c. andrews books hooks you from the very beginning, this one had nothing to draw the reader in which thar alpne mad eit very disappointing but as a avid fan since i was 12 years old i find myself reading the book only because of that. If you arent a diehard fan of v.c. andrews work i wouldnt suggest you buy it.

I agree with the review that the love between amber and brayden is NOTHING like troy and heaven. I can honestly say this is the first V.c andrews book I do not like. I dont recommend it. And its not hard to guess what the end is.

What a mess! Andrew Neiderman needs to keep his supernatural junk to his own novels, the ones he does under his name, because this does not belong under the VCA name. Not just because of the subject, but how poorly it was written. I hated Brayden, I did not find him sexy and I wanted to shake and slap Amber for being so enthralled with him. This is NOTHING like Heaven and Troy, the publisher needs to stop making these outrageous lies and just put the VCA name to rest.

I knew what the plot was first chapter in. Even though I kept reading and it kept my attention. It was just weird. I would say this book is for a rainy day and you have nothing better to read.
