Whether or not you believe in God, you cannot escape the fact that a belief in God is one of the principal factors determining the world in which we live. Even in modern western society, many of our laws, moralities and political policies are founded on religious belief. So much of our perceived morality stems from religious beliefs, that our day to day lives are moulded by them, beliefs which we as individuals may or may not share. There are so many different religions in existence today, that even if one seeks to know a one true God, we are faced with nothing but disagreement and confusion. Yet most religions hold at their core one fundamental idea, that a supreme being created the world in which we live, and watches over us like a divine, benevolent parent. But is such a belief supported by the evidence we have all around us at our disposal?
