*A sexy stand-alone romantic suspense!*

Thorne McKelvey knows exactly how Nadia sees him-as a brute and a killer just kinky enough to play her sexy games. And that's how it has to stay. Leaving her was the hardest thing he ever did, but his undercover mission could blow up at any second. No way will he drag Nadia down with him.
Maybe it was foolish to fall in love with her late father's deadliest henchman, but Nadia Volkov's not sorry; without Thorne she wouldn't have their beautiful little boy. There's nothing she won't do to protect Benny, which means she must hide his identity-especially from his father.
Now Thorne has burst back into her home, searching for clues to a gangland mystery...and stirring a hunger Nadia hasn't felt in two years. But Benny's identity isn't the only secret she's keeping, and things are turning deadly. Can Thorne and Nadia trust each other long enough to stay alive and have a chance at happiness?

Fantastic. Engaging. Riveting. Explosive. Emotional. Gripping. Action-packed. These are the words I brainstormed about the book before writing this review. I wasn’t able to connect them all into coherent sentences, so thought I would just give it to you raw. I just finished Into The Shadows by Carolyn Crane and wow. Into The Shadows is the third book in The Associates Series and had me feeling the whole gamete of emotions. I was engaged from the first page and was pretty much on the edge of my seat until the very end. There is something very unique about Carolyn’s writing and I have yet to figure out how to describe it, so just read this book and you will know what I am talking about. Thorne is the hero in Into The Shadows and is a very complex character. He is self-confident but in a somewhat skewed way. My heart went out to him when we were given flashbacks to help us understand the decisions he makes. I liked him from the beginning yet I never really knew what he was going to do in any situation. He kept me turning the pages. Nadia is the heroine and she seems to have a better head on her shoulders than Thorne, but she still has many issues to overcome. Throw in a toddler, a very dangerous gang leader (hate him), a lost mother and you have quite the story in Into The Shadows. Thorne and Nadia together are potent. Like, explosive. The intimacy the two of them share is intense. I didn’t like the game they played with one another back when they were dating, mostly because it hurt my feelings to even hear them joke about things (you will understand when you read the book), however, I understood why they did it as characters. I really enjoyed Thorne and Nadia’s love story. It was definitely not a cookie cutter version of a romance. It was about two people that grew up in horrible circumstances and still make it out okay in the end. It reminded me that each love story has their own quirks and challenges, but if two people are dedicated to and love one another, anything can happen. The plot in Into The Shadows is gritty, violent, raw and emotional all at the same time. Carolyn doesn’t sugar-coat things and gives it to you straight. While reading, I felt the same thing the characters felt. The anxiety in a situation was real to me, as I could literally feel my heart speed up while reading. The story moves fast and I found myself hanging on every word just so I didn’t miss a thing. If you like romantic suspense, you must read this series. Each book can be read as a standalone so start anywhere. If you want edge-of-your-seat action and heart-melting romance, I suggest you give Into The Shadows a try.

LOVED IT!!! Received an ARC copy from Netgalley for a honest review. This is the first book for me by Carolyn Crane and it definitely was a page turner that kept me biting my nails. I was easily sucked into the story. Storyline was action packed, suspenseful, intriguing and contained one steamy romance. Thorne is a deadly hot badass with a few secrets that include why he left Nadia. Course Nadia has a few secrets of her own. Thorne and Nadia's love and chemistry was so passionate and intense. Would recommend and plan to read more by this author.

I generally give a book 100 pages but I couldn’t get past 50 with this one. The characters were predictable, the story lagged and the language got more and more foul as I turned the pages. I’m no prude, but It became pretty clear that, in addition to the foul and unnecessary language, the violence and sex were going to be exceedingly graphic.

This book was good. The overall plot was so interesting. I stayed up all night! The sex scenes were good but there weren't many. But the interesting twist of the plot make that okay

Okay so I started off reading the third book in this series, because it was free and the synopsis sounded interesting enough. FYI: I don't think its necessary to read the first two books as this book had a lot of background information that allows the reader to catch up and not feel lost. Anyway, another reader who totally despised the book labeled Nadia as POS mother for keeping Benny from his father. I must agree to a certain extent, I do believe that it was very wrong of Nadia to keep Benny from his father because despite him being a killer, thug and 'gang' member, he was a good and loyal man. Its like I always say, kids tend to bring either the worst out in people or the best. Thorne would have been an amazing dad to Benny. However, as a mother I do understand where Nadia's protective streak came from, I certainly would never allow anyone or anything to hurt my children, so her fears and trepidation were very understandable. Outside of all the repetition about their feelings for one another, his thoughts on himself being a loser and the whole 'Party Princess' disaster, this was actually a pretty good and interesting read. Not interesting enough for me to purchase the other books but for now, I'll put them on my TBR list. SR

Amidst the violence is one of the most beautiful love stories ever. Character development was superb. Totally recommend if you like action books. This one would make a great movie. CB

You will enjoy the dynamic relationship between Thorne and Nadia. As secrets come cruising to the forefront ice is being chipped from each of their hearts. When we open up our hearts to love, trust is usually involved and we don't love ourselves enough to appreciate and accept the love of someone else.

I highly recommend this book. It was fast paced and action packed. The characters all felt like they were apart of the gang world so it didn't feel farfetched. This is the first book in the series I read and I'm definitely getting the others. And I absolutely loved Thorne and Nadia and their little family.

There is a lot of action going on in this book. Nadia is robbing gangs and setting free the slave labor that the gangs are holding hostage. Her motive is finding her mother. Nadia’s father is a gang leader who took her away from her mother when she was very young. Thorne is working undercover trying to takedown the monsters who killed his sister. Nadia and Torne meet. There is much smexy times. Nine months later Daddy is dead, Thorne is gone, and Benny is born. Eighteen months later Thorne is back looking for something Daddy left behind. He doesn’t know that Nadia has already found the mystery object and is using it to try and find her mother. There is more smexy times, Nadia is shot, Benny is kidnapped. Thorne, with the help of other Undercover Associates, rescues Benny and takes down the bad guy. And Thorne realizes that Benny is his son. Special guest appearance made by Lizzie and Arty (a tranqualizer dart pistol and a Glock). This is book three of the Undercover Associates series. I have not read book one (Against the Dark) or book two (Off the Edge). They are in my TBR pile and have moved to the top of the list. Complimentary copy provided by author for an honest review.
