Cara always knew life on planet L'eihr would be an adjustment. With Aelyx, her L'eihr boyfriend, back on Earth, working to mend the broken alliance between their two planets, Cara is left to fend for herself at a new school, surrounded by hostile alien clones. Even the weird dorm pet hates her.

Things look up when Cara is appointed as human representative to a panel preparing for a human colony on L'eihr. A society melding their two cultures is a place where Cara and Aelyx could one day make a life together. But with L'eihr leaders balking at granting even the most basic freedoms, Cara begins to wonder if she could ever be happy on this planet, even with Aelyx by her side.

Meanwhile, on Earth, Aelyx, finds himself thrown into a full-scale PR campaign to improve human-L'eihr relations. Humans don't know that their very survival depends on this alliance: only Aelyx's people have the technology to fix the deadly contamination in the global water supply that human governments are hiding. Yet despite their upper hand, the leaders of his world suddenly seem desperate to get humans on their side, and hardly bat an eye at extremists' multiple attempts on Aelyx's life. The Way clearly needs humans' help but with what? And what will they ask for in return?

With moving to a alien planet, Cara feels more confused then ever. She knew it would be hard settling in to a new place, but she never expected this. Nothing seems to be going right. With the clones, her instructors, and even the house pet, hating her for no apparent reason; she starts to second-guess herself. Dose she really want to leave everything she knows behind, and start a new life here with Aelyx? Will he mend the alliance, and bring peace to humans and L'eihrs? Will she convenience The Way to lighten their restrictions on her and the future colonists? With her life getting flipped upside down, she doesn't know what will happen next. But she does know this; she can't stand being away from Aelyx. Aelyx can't stand being so far away from his home planet, especially now that Cara has landed and has started to settle in. He feels conflicted. He was suppose to be the one to show her his home, but he can't do this without mending the alliance. With the threats from HALO growing everyday, as well as the attempts on his life, Aelyx feels jostled and anxious. Will humans except his alien race and form an alliance, or will they turn against his people? Will The Way stay true to their word and aid Earth? Will he ever get to go home and see his l'ihan again? With The Way pushing him to mend the alliance, Aelyx doesn't know what will happen next. But he does know one thing, that he misses Cara now more then ever. Melissa Landers simply took my breath away, again. With her amazing creativity and imagination, Invaded simply came to life right before my eyes. I was a little doubtful about this one, knowing that some authors struggle to engage readers when writing a sequel, but that is not the case this time. I loved reading about Cara's adventures on an alien planet, and Aelyx's journey to mend the alliance. But the most amazing part in the whole story was Melissa's ability to keep the long distance relationship alive between Cara and Aelyx. This was a very fast read for me, and I highly recommend if you read the first book, Alienated. Or if you like an action-packed romance, full of leaps and sometimes falls. I'm pleased to say that with Invaded, Melissa has captured my attention, and has left me wanting more!

Cara Sweeny is sent to L'eihr, an Alien planet that touched down on Earth a few years prior, while her terrestrial boyfriend, Aelyx, is still on Earth working out the kinks he had knotted up when he first arrived. While Cara is away from her beloved, both start to wonder if this is what they want. The residents of L'eihr are leery of Cara, and make it known that she is not wanted there. And back on Earth, the same is told to Aelyx as attempts on his life start to grow. Both wonder if this is the kind of lifestlye they want--to spend their lives in space or on Earth. One must sacrifice for their love, or it will all fall to pieces, with one on one planet and one on the other. Aelyx is a swoon-worthy book boyfriend I wouldn't mind having. I was really excited to read this book, and after a year of wait, here it was! I read the book in probably a day and a half, flipping through as fast as my brain could process. It was different for me, the fact that Cara and Aelyx weren't on the same planet hurt my love-obsessed heart, but I managed, because they ended up reuniting again. What I loved about this book was that Cara tried to be apart of a culture that wasn't her, and accepted their ways, and that's a really difficult thing to do.  The only problem I had was that the ending seemed very open-ended, like there was another book coming, which there may not be. It was hard to accept that some things would just be one of those 'you decide' endings, but I loved it nontheless. Melissa Landers, I'm envious of your writing skills!

This time around Cara and Aelyx trade places, with Cara being on planet L'eihr and Aelyx back to Earth to try make amends. Add to it some conspiracy that goes on both planets. Cara and Aelyx can't wait to get together and I can't either. This book ends not on a cliffhanger but with some unanswered questions. Hopefully book 3 comes out in 2016 because I really want to read about what will happens to both planets, Cara's brother and of course Cara and Aelyx. Really enjoyed this series. And please let the kids hookup already!

I was absolutely obsessed with Alienated, and this book did not disappoint. It was preordered for my birthday last year and I counted down the days till it arrived. It's different from a lot of the other books of its kind and that's what truly got me hooked. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more about Aleyx and Cara.

Praise for Invaded! Invaded - the sequel to Alienated - is a fast-moving action packed book filled with heart-warming romance between my favourite intergalactic couple, Alyx and Cara. It had been a while since I read Alienated but I got sucked right back into this beautifully scripted world created from the mind of one of my favourite YA author, Melissa Landers. The characters have astonishing character development from the beginning of Alienated to the end of Invaded. They grown and learned so much and I have fallen in love every single one of them.  I live in New Zealand, one of the only places in the world that doesn’t sell Melissa Landers books. I had heard about them though. When I went on holiday to America, I snatched up the first copy of Alienated I could find and I immediately wanted to live in that world, to meet mysterious yet loving Alyx and the beautiful, stubborn Cara. Most of all, I wanted to meet Melissa Landers, the person who created this phenomenal tale from the confines of her own head. For that I thank her. After I had finished Alienated, I was on a book hangover for months. I kept rereading the same books over and over, not being able to take in any new ones as Alienated had left me thirsting for more. I couldn’t forget about them and the fact that Invaded hadn’t come out yet irked me more than anything. Even when it was released I had to wait a couple of weeks for it to arrive. It was all worth it. Invaded captured me back in to L’eihr’s clutches and didn’t let me go until I had read every last word. If I thought I was affected by Alienated, that’s nothing compared to Invaded. It leaves you scrounging around for anything more, it leaves you obsessed, it leaves you hooked. Melissa Landers is truly a genius. Invaded starts around where Alienated left off, with Alyx going back to earth to try and reinstate the peace contract and Cara traveling to the planet L’eihr to keep the peace on that side of the galaxy. Cara has hesitation to whether she could ever belong with these hostile aliens, even when her planet is at stake. But with Alyx by her side she never stops trying. Alyx meanwhile has been the target of several assassination attempts. He’s doing what he can to mend the broken alliance between their two planets but it isn’t working. Then … well, you’ll have to find out. If you love romance read this book. Alyx and Cara are the most stunning couple I have ever read about and will make your heart melt in no time. If you love action read this book. This book is fast-paced with disaster after disaster occurring.  If you love sci fi read this book. Aliens, Cures for Cancer, a galaxy far, far away - sign me up. Melissa creates this whole world, this whole civilization, this whole planet, out of nothing but her imagination.  I would recommend this book for all ages and for both genders as it appeals to a wide range of audiences. It is beautifully written and you won’t be able to put the book down. I can’t wait for the third installment of this thrilling series.

5 BEAUTIFUL INTERGALACTIC SHINING STARS!  Before I get to the review I just have to say- Vero, the housepet, I just fell in love with him in this book! In my head I imagine him as a cross between a lemur, a raccoon and a hairless cat. Can you say CUTENESS?!?  Without giving too much away, in the beginning of Invaded I didn't care for L'eihr much, I mean it was a colorless, strict place to be. However Melissa Landers did it again, she made me fall in love with this new planet with her amazing writing skills! If L'eihr were real I would sign up to join the colony!  Cara and Aelyx's relationship has been put to the test and they passed with flying comets! (Pun intended, I couldn't resist) Me and my husband were once in a long distance relationship, we were about 200 miles apart. I couldn't imagine how difficult a intergalactic long distance relationship would be! I am hoping and praying for a third book in this series, I want to see little half-alien babies! However even if there isn't a third book in the series Melissa wrapped things up nicely while still making way for a possible third book. I love this series so much I'm hoping for a fourth and fifth book!   I would recommend this to anyone who loves a lot of romance (the heartfelt true love type), sci-fi and adventure then this book is for you! Even if you don't normally read sci-fi don't that that scare you away, I promise you will love this one! Melissa did a phenomenal job of creating a realistic new world and making it seem believable!  Quote from the book that made me laugh: "A probe?" Cara asked. "As in I'ma disrobe you, then I'ma probe you?"

Cara is on the planet L'eihr and is trying to adjust to life there. She is definitely pushed to her limits in this book both physically and emotionally. She arrives on L'eihr and is treated poorly by almost everyone. She becomes a L'eihr citizen (which was no easy task) and is still not accepted. On Earth she was valedictorian of her class but on L'eihr she struggles especially in their form of PE! She does have her moments of doubt for both the alliance, her ability to live on L'ehr and her own "happily ever after" but she never gives up. If you liked her in book 1, you are going to love her in this sequel. Meanwhile Aelyx is on Earth with his own set of problems. He is miserable without Cara but is trying his best to create a favorable alliance all the while dealing with multiple assassination attempts. I liked Aelyx POV chapters but there was definitely more going on with Cara and her exploration and trials in a new world. Love triangle? Well it seemed like it was or could of gone that way at the end of book 1 but thankfully it goes in a whole different direction! Melissa did a great job with the romance in this book despite the fact that Cara and Aelyx were physically apart (the ultimate long distance relationship) they were never far from each other's thoughts. Melissa's switched POVs so we get to see into both Aelyx and Cara's thoughts as well the pressures that the distance created in their relationship. Romance is not the main theme in this book like it was in book 1 (mostly because the physical distance) but honestly there is so much else going on (world building, sci fi aspect, Cara adapting to life on L'ehir) that the lack of romance is not a detractor at all. You can get your romance fix by reading the novella "Until Midnight" that Melissa published over the holidays that is free on Amazon :-) The secondary characters were great in this book as well. We all met Syrine in book 1 and we all probably did not like her. Her development was great and even though you may of wanted drop kick her in book 1 you will definitely grow to like her in this book. David was a new character. I really enjoyed the development of his friendship with Aelyx and I could say more but I don't want to include any spoilers :-) The plot was well paced and keeps you hooked. Secrets, unexpected twists, and several revelations come about that change the game. The ending does not end with a cliffhanger but is definitely open ended. I am not sure if there is a book 3 but I certainly hope so!

The story of Cara and Aelyx continues, but they are living on different planets. Cara is living on L'heir, as a foreign exchange student, and Aelyx is on Earth on a PR campaign, helping the L'Heir and human relations improve after the exchange student debacle that he helped implode in the first book. Each of them are challenged by living with a race that continues to hate them. This novel is not as much of a romance, as they are each living a world apart, so the reader follows both of their stories individually, rooting for them to overcome the hate, and loving it when they are able to convert others to enjoy diversity, at the risk of their own lives. Cara is the weaker of the two characters, letting doubt creep in, and allowing that doubt about being able to live among a race that hates humans grab root. Aelyx, on the other hand, never doubts his feelings, or whether they can make this work, but to give Cara a little credit, he isn't the one that is going to have to live forever on a foreign planet and be asked to leave all friends and family behind. I like how Melissa Landers deals with racial tension by using this alien analogy. I'm curious to see how the two of them will overcome the problems that will face them in the future, and if their love will survive those decisions. The third book, United, comes out on August 6th, 2016.

Invaded is the second book in the Alienated series by Melissa Landers. This time around, we learned a little more about L’eihr. They have a different way of doing things, from their politics to their day to day lifestyle, and the more Cara learns the less sure she is about making a life in the colony. Aelyx is having a rough time on earth between the prejudices against him and all the attempts on his life. We get to meet some new characters, and get to know some of the older ones a little better. There was a twist or two. Some things I expected, but I think that was the author's plan.

This book was very well done. It elaborated on some of the characters, like Syrine, and really tested the bonds between the character like never before. It was really enjoyable fir me to read, and it seems that there will be a third book, though it hasn't been announced yet. I can't wait to fing out what happen next to my favorite alien/human ship ever!

4.5 stars Although I didn't love it like the first book, I really enjoyed reading it. It definitely kept my interest and my satisfactory level up there. I do hate that Cara and Aelyx weren't together much throughout this book; that's because they took long distance relationship to the extreme! She's on L’eihr and he's on Earth. Both had trying times and what they accomplished at each respective planets was lovely. I did find Cara at times was frustrating but she's a great character so I let it slide. ;) I did like how the story was written but it was predictable to me. I guessed (correctly) early on the who was behind things and what was going to happen (for the most part). Never fear though, the story was still amazing from when I figured it out until it was known in the story. I also liked that this doesn't leave off on a cliffhanger. Even though it ended satisfactory, I'm really hoping there is another book because I want more of Cara and Aelyx, to know what happened with the possible threat, and getting Jaxen.

A great way to (possibly) end this series. To start, I must say that although I hope Landers does write one more book in the series, I won't be completely heart broken if she doesn't. I felt this book tied up a lot of ends, but also left the door open for one more good story. If you asked me to pick, I'd say go for one more to see how the colony goes, but hey, it's not my choice. So as far as this book goes, at first I was really bored, but then it got much better the more I read. I realize now the parts I though were boring were actually necessary in order for all the future events to make sense. I'm happy to say that while half of my predictions for the way things would go were correct, half were also wrong! I was happy about that, because really, who doesn't like surprises? As in the first book, I was very amused with the dialogue and internal conversations the characters had. I found myself laughing out loud many times (while getting funny looks from those around me, but hey, they don't matter). I again enjoyed Landers's writing style. Great vocabulary, but easy to read! There was sufficient description of settings and characters, and just the right amount of time was spent explaining things. I enjoyed the new characters introduced in this story as well. I was bordering between a 4 and a 5 for this one, but went the the 5 because I really enjoyed the ending. As I mentioned, it completed the story, but also left the door open for a third book. Not many authors can do that well, so I applaud Landers on her talent with that! I look forward to a possible sequel, as well as reading more from Landers in the future!

This sequel to Alienated was a fun one. I had quite a few laugh-out-loud moments, as well as a some, "Is ___ bad? I think ____ is bad!" yells at whomever was near me at the time. Cah-ra's character definitely grew in book two as she was exposed to more... *ahem* alienated traditions (like Sh'ovah). She also became stronger and more able to speak up for herself on L'eihr, which was nice, as I liked watching her grow.  A few things I liked:  1) How Ms. Landers makes sure to show that guys and girls *can* be just friends (okay, okay, guy and girl *aliens* can be friends).  2) The inventive thing Aelyx gives to Cara 3) David :) 4) Troy's reaction to something that I can't say but when you read it, you'll know  There's also a few mysteries going on, and though I'm not going to go into details, I was equal parts frustrated and happy that one thing planned ended up not happening, because it wouldn't have been the right time for it to happen. (Cryptic enough?) And now, a part that made me laugh: The man had a name, but Cara preferred to think of him as Satan. He loved making her suffer. "Pain is good," he'd told her. "If no hurt, you do it wrongly." Satan didn't speak very good English, but he was fluent in whoop ass.  Ha ha! If you've read Alienated, you've *got* to read Invaded. :)

I read Alienated around the time it came out and loved it so much. I was so stoked that Melissa was going to have a free novella and also a second book. I read both and loved both. Why did I love Invaded? Read on and find out my child.  The book starts back up after the ending of Until Midnight and if you read Until Midnight, then you obviously understand what is going on. For people that haven't read Until Midnight but went straight from Alienated to Invaded you may get a little confused. That's okay because you will catch on. One thing I really liked about the characters is this book was the Cara had gotten so much development from the beginning of Alienated to the end of Invaded. She is a lot more outspoken (not that she wasn't already) and curious. For example, when the "meteorite" dropped down Cara didn't run away from it. Instead she went to go examine it. Boom, right there. Character development. Another thing I really liked was the action and plot that went down in this book. I thought the duo perspective was great. It was really awesome how we got read from Aelyx and not just Cara, because let's be honest, I would be pretty bored with this book if I was only reading about Cara. I want to know what is happening on earth too! The different things happening on earth and L'eihr weren't too confusing, they weren't too boring, and all the action didn't cause the book to be overwhealming. Each planet had a healthy amount of things going on and I liked that. Both Cara and Aelyx would have their problems and reading back and forth from one problem and to another problem. There was a perfect balance.

I cannot express how much I LOVE this book! AHHH I was literally dying waiting for this book to come out, seriously. I like how in the first book, Alienated, showed the perspective, through Cara, of the alien student exchange from earth. However, I couldn't take my eye off the words in Invaded and how it showed the perspective from the alien planet. ANNND their relationship is ADORABLE! I have yet to find another book this amazing, especially one that involves an alien x human romance ;)

Even better than Alienated if that's possible! This is such a fantastic story. I totally love Cara and Aelyx. I'm pretty sure they are my favorite ship ever. The fact that this book focuses a lot on politics is so neat. I never thought I would ever be interested in it. I want a third one soooo bad. I need more! I want to learn more of the alien planet and the alliance.

Invaded was an enjoyable and entertaining sequel. It was interesting to learn more about the new world through Cara's eyes as she's experiencing things. I'm really hoping there is a third book because I'd like to see more of these characters.

I purchased both of these books together, so excited to read them after all of the great reviews I heard. I could. not. put. the. book. down. Alienated was so well written, and I was obsessed with the romance (Aelyx especially). After finishing Alienated in one day, I immediately switched over to reading Invaded. And I also couldn't put it down! My feels were like a roller coaster throughout this book, but it was awesome! Very well written, I've already bought a bunch of copies to give to friends as gifts! I'm positive they'll love them just as much as I do! Crossing my fingers for a third book!

The perfect sequel to the brilliant Alienated book.  For all YA readers who enjoy sci-fi and a strong dose of romance. The characters are brilliant and identifiable and I have found my newest book boyfriend in the sexy alien Aelyx. I loved reading about the culture and daily life on L’eihr, as well as the romance and overcoming of obstacles that threaten both worlds. This book gave me the happy feeling that only a great book with a perfect ending can give, which is why I gave it a rare five stars. I also listened to the audiobook version and thought the narrator portrayed the tone and the characters just as they had sounded in my head. I will totally read and listen to this book again. – and anyone who hasn't read ‘until midnight’ that shows Aleyx attempting to give Cara a human Christmas should, it is really worth it.

I love all of Melissa Landers' books!  This series is so unpredictable and out of this world! (I think I used that joke on the last review, but I can't resist.)  She makes me love her characters and literally laugh out loud.  I can't ever guess what's going to happen next. Love her!

MY THOUGHTS I loved Alienated! It was such a brilliant alien book, with a great romance, and such a captivating plot! I enjoyed this book as well, though not as much, but this book takes a completely different turn on things! After Alienated, Cara and Aelyx have been separated. Cara is sent to live on  L’eihr as one of two humans (the other is her brother). She is supposed to look into the colony and learn their ways, but that's hard when no one there seems to want her there and are trying their best to get her arrested (or killed). Aelyx is still on Earth, trying to get the two planets to ally with one another, but threats to his life are being continued against him. With all of this happening, both will question what the L'eihr really want and what is really happening. This book was a bit slow-paced to me, with is to be expected of middle books (at least, I think there will be another book after this). This book followed what a lot of middle books do, where the main couple is separated. This caused some of the pacing to slow, though there was a whole lot of mysterious happenings and questions being asked. Even though I did enjoy seeing all this, there wasn't much action until the very end, which was a bit confusing. Anyway, I enjoyed seeing more of what the planet L'eihr was like and seeing more about the culture. It did bother me at times because it felt like it was mean girls: alien style, but I guess that made sense. Not much really happened with Aelyx, but I did like how we got more of a few side characters in this one. As for romance, there really wasn't much, due to the separation. Though, it is still obvious that they love each other. IN CONCLUSION Overall, this book did have middle book syndrome, but it's still a worthwhile read. It may be slow-paced, but has so much new information and it adds so many questions that this book is a must for Alienated fans. There is no sign of another book on Goodreads, but I hope there will be one...
