Inventive Genius: The History of the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
Certainly a solid history and a book with information that you won't find anywhere else. I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting. I think most of the personalities that shaped the Museum come through nicely, and many of the permanent exhibits get nice discussions, like the U505, the Boeing, and the model trains. Quite a bit of time, though, is spent on exhibits that probably seemed important at the time, but maybe didn't end up being as important as was expected. I would have liked more elucidation on the history of the things you can still see today. The book is ten years old and it would be hard to really be up to date, as fast as the exhibits change, but I'm sure many exhibits, like the model ships or the miniature circus, date from quite some time ago, and I would have liked to know more about them.Still, if you're interested in the museum, this is the book to go to to learn about it.
