About the Author
Mary Foster Parmer is director of Invite Welcome Connect at the Beecken Center in the School of Theology of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. She is past director of the Gathering of Leaders, a national leadership gathering of young Episcopal clergy. Parmer has served as lay deputy to the past four General Conventions of the Episcopal Church, and she currently serves on the Task Force on Clergy Leadership Formation in Small Churches. Parmer holds a degree in religious studies from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, and formerly served as director of adult ministries & evangelism at St. Stephen’s, Beaumont. Parmer has two married children and six young grandchildren and spends her time away from the office hiking, building stone labyrinths, and reading memoirs.
