Thomas Bartlett is Professor of Irish History at the School of Divinity, History and Philosophy, University of Aberdeen. The writing is lively and very lucid, it drew me in. Aims to be comprehensive from Roman times to date. Given my ignorance of Irish history, I can't judge the accuracy or fairness.
