This was a difficult to read book, with a convoluted story line. However, it sucks you in like a vortex. You find yourself pulling for the kid, while wondering where the dickens Child Protective Services are. It shows an enterprising child made to grow up too fast. It also shows how your life's circumstances can make you do what you know to be wrong. Defines that strange mother/child relationship in a poor parenting relationship. Have your coffee or tea ready when you open this story. You need it to follow the plot.

This remindedme of Alice doesn't love here anymore. (the Movie). It's about a mum and daughter who are just together most of the time. There are very few other charachters and when they are there they are peripheral. They are together but hiding from the police cause the mother is schizophreniac. I really liked it a lot. It was sad and tragic but kind of comforting to read at the same time.
