Overview

Irresistible You by Kate Meader

Hot in Chicago series author Kate Meader returns with her all new, scorching Chicago Rebels hockey series, featuring her signature “steamy sex scenes, colorful characters, and riveting dialogue” (Romantic Times). Three estranged sisters inherit their late father’s failing hockey franchise and are forced to confront a man’s world, their family’s demons, and the battle-hardened ice warriors skating into their hearts.

Harper Chase has just become the most powerful woman in the NHL after the death of her father Clifford Chase, maverick owner of the Chicago Rebels. But the team is a hot mess—underfunded, overweight, and close to tapping out of the league. Hell-bent on turning the luckless franchise around, Harper won’t let anything stand in her way. Not her gender, not her sisters, and especially not a veteran player with an attitude problem and a smoldering gaze designed to melt her ice-compacted defenses.

Veteran center Remy “Jinx” DuPre is on the downside of a career that’s seen him win big sponsorships, fans’ hearts, and more than a few notches on his stick. Only one goal has eluded him: the Stanley Cup. Sure, he’s been labeled as the unluckiest guy in the league, but with his recent streak of good play, he knows this is his year. So why the hell is he being shunted off to a failing hockey franchise run by a ball-buster in heels? And is she seriously expecting him to lead her band of misfit losers to a coveted spot in the playoffs?

He’d have a better chance of leading Harper on a merry skate to his bed...

A bucolic bedroom community with easy access to Boston, only thirty miles away, West Bridgerton looked like a typical New England town as Harper Chase drove her rental car through its family friendly streets. This late, she was surprised they didn’t roll them up after dark. On her left, she passed a gazebo in War Memorial Park, on her right a steepled white church. Two Dunkin’s. No Starbucks. Farmland, a rail trail, a river, and a state forest spoke to its pastoral character.

Hard to believe a lughead of a hockey player would feel at home amid such peaceful surroundings.

The lughead in question? Remy DuPre, or Jinx, as he was better known with the Boston Cougars, a nickname earned because he was considered the unluckiest guy in the NHL. A little bird—in the form of his agent—had told her the Cajun was ragin’ about his trade out of Boston and would need a dab of soft soap to smooth his transition to the Chicago Rebels.

Harper sighed. She had never met a bigger bunch of divas than hockey players. For all their supposed rough-and-tumble-warrior credentials, they were nothing but whiners when it came to their contracts.

She had made this trade fair and square.

Was it her fault DuPre was a bargain? Paying out the last year of his contract—a contract that should have been better negotiated by his loser agent when he came up for renewal with Boston two years ago—had cost her a pittance compared to what she’d have to pony up for someone younger. So he was thirty-five, positively elderly for hockey. And maybe his chances to go deep in a season were running out.

There’s no room for sentimentality in this game.

That was the mantra of Clifford Chase: three-time Stanley Cup champion, Hall of Famer, hockey franchise owner, notorious asshole.

    And Harper’s lately departed father.

Two weeks ago the maverick owner of the Chicago Rebels had died following a massive heart attack at the age of sixty-two. A week later, Harper’s life was upended again with the reading of the will, leaving her to negotiate the rubble of her father’s final wishes for the team. Their relationship had been combative, to say the least, but she had never expected this.

Over the past decade, the Rebels, once the most popular team in the city, had become a laughingstock, named “the worst franchise in sports” by ESPN, with the second-lowest attendance in the NHL. Having made the playoffs only once in the last fifteen years—an abysmal record considering half the teams qualify each year—the organization was also suffering through the longest championship drought in the league. Sure, they had a few good players—their poor results put them in prime position for the best draft picks—but not enough. Her father’s grip on the team had been tight enough to bruise. Harper, despite her official title of vice president, was his right-hand woman in name only.

Now they needed to rebuild. And that rebuild began with the acquisition of veteran center Remy DuPre, who could take her band of talented misfits and make them shine.

However, DuPre had decided he didn’t need to follow the rules. He didn’t need to hop on a plane within twenty-four hours of being traded and haul ass to Chicago. He didn’t even need to speak directly to Harper, as acting general manager, about his absence.

The moment Coach Calhoun had shared DuPre’s travel plans, she had called and left a message. Fortunately—for DuPre—she’d missed his returned call, so he didn’t get the full brunt of her wrath. If he truly understood how pissed she was that he had chosen not to show for practice in Chicago, surely he would not have fobbed her off with a casual “See ya for the game in Philly, Harper.”

She had played his message several times. Not because she enjoyed that syrupy New Orleans drawl that crept over her body like a thief and made every hair stand at attention.

No. She had replayed it to assure herself that she was indeed hearing the words of a man who thought he had some say in his to’ing and fro’ing. DuPre appeared to be under the impression that the Chicago Rebels’ organization did not own his ass. She was here to set him straight.

A midnight visit to his home in Massachusetts had not been part of the plan. She’d intended for this smackdown to happen earlier. Fly in. Lay down the law. Fly out. But her flight had landed late and she’d been on her way to her hotel when she decided to drive by DuPre’s house first.

She pulled into the drive of a classic Colonial—behind the eight million cars already lining the path. The steady thump of a distant bass echoed through the air. Blazing lights from the house set the October night sky aglow. All that was missing was a spotlight shooting upward announcing Here Lives Remy DuPre!

Harper’s teeth, already in danger of being ground to dust, were now set on edge. Instead of getting acquainted with his new team in Chicago, her new acquisition was throwing a party.

Sitting in the car, she considered her options. She would prefer not to get into a mud-flinging match with DuPre in front of an audience. It could wait until tomorrow. She checked her watch: 12:02 a.m.

    Past curfew.

Hockey organizations implemented strict rules about how much sleep players should be getting. Their diets were regimented, workouts monitored, every aspect of their lives recorded to ensure they remained valuable assets to the team.

Harper had invested considerable money in DuPre, and the man was throwing a party when he should have been sleeping off a hard practice and preparing for the game against the Philadelphia Liberty in two days.

Lost in her indignation, she barely noticed that she’d left her car and reached DuPre’s front door. It rose before her, a barrier to her doing her job, and her mouth fell open at the words stenciled on the red-painted wood:

    Laissez les Bons Temps Rouler

Let the good times roll, the motto of spring breakers everywhere. And Remy DuPre had it indelibly fixed to his door.

Oh, God. Panic edged across her skin, making her heart pump madly.

She had made a huge mistake.

This was not the man she needed to lead the Rebels to a top-three finish in the Central Division. She would find a way to back out of the trade. Cite irreconcilable differences, buyer’s remorse, having her GD period. Anything!

Ready to retreat, she turned away, but something popped in her chest.

The news that the Rebels had been divided up among Clifford’s daughters like a Shakespearean tragedy was still a hot topic in the sports media. Add to that the team’s terrible start to the season—0 and 4—and the idea that a woman, or women, knew jack about running a professional hockey team was still getting plenty of airplay. Usually with jokes along the lines of:

How many women does it take to screw up a sports franchise?

Just one. But three sure is prettier.

Anger at her father evicted her panic. What had the man been thinking, leaving the team to be jointly run by a trio of estranged half sisters? Clifford had promised Harper the team. Not in so many words, no, but they had an understanding.

No one expected him to go so soon, but she had hoped he’d involve her more and would recognize the value she could add to the organization. She’d majored in sports management, interned at Rebels HQ, made damn fine coffee, given a knowing wink and a smile while her ass was ogled by her male coworkers and those horndogs on the team. She’d sat in on every negotiation from player to equipment to concessions. And yes, all the ultimate decisions came from on high, but at thirty-one years of age, she was ready. Clifford had known she was ready.

Yet he still hadn’t trusted her to do the job herself.

She steeled her spine and stood as tall as her Cole Haan wedges would allow. She should have worn the Choos, but she was practical to her core, and the Cole Haans with the Nike Air insoles were perfect for traveling.

She refused to let a dead man, two sisters who were practically strangers to her, and an overgrown frat boy named Remy DuPre dictate how she ran her team.

    Who’s the boss, Harper?

    You da boss!

Determination in her sway, she pivoted and searched for a doorbell. Nothing. The knocker would have to do, but as she curled her fingers around it, the door gave way like something out of an old Hammer horror film.

Of course. The good times would have a hard time rolling through a locked door.

The music increased in volume. Hoots and hollers tinged the air. She moved forward, trying to force her feet to match the indignation in her chest. A few steps more, and she wished she had gone with her first instinct and turned tail the moment she read that door inscription.

A woman was removing her clothes.

Harper hadn’t just walked into a party, she’d walked into an orgy.

Okay, cool it. It wasn’t quite as bad as all that. No one was having public sex . . . yet. But it looked increasingly likely.

A curvaceous brunette in red hot pants was in the process of peeling off a teeny-tiny top, aaaaand there it went, revealing a sparkly bra with tassels. Really? She swung those tassels like a sixties burlesque queen.

Everyone cheered. All of them men.

A blood-chilling creep frosted over Harper at the sight of this woman surrounded by so much testosterone, powerful machines with more strength in their forearms than in that woman’s entire body.

The burlesque queen straddled a man, her body hiding his face, her obvious self-confidence a direct repudiation of Harper’s fears. The man’s massive hands, as big as ham hocks, skimmed her hips and drew her flush over muscular, jean-clad thighs.

“Tonight, Remy,” the woman said in a smoky purr, “you’re gonna get a send-off you’ll never forget.”

She raised her hands to the back snap barely containing all that flesh ready to spill forth. The cups sure did runneth over with this one. Was she actually going to—

Harper couldn’t stand it another moment. “DuPre!”

Twenty-five sets of eyes turned on her, cold, accusing. So much for slipping in under the radar.

Moving his head to the side of his “gift,” Remy DuPre raised the eyebrow of a rogue. She had never met him in the flesh, but seeing this warrior battling it out on the ice—both in person and on TV—should have prepared her. Every day in her job she dealt with mountains of muscle with the honed and sculpted bodies of gods. Some of them were good-looking. Some of them had faces only a mother or a woman looking to score with a million-dollar athlete could love.

Remy DuPre’s face compelled her attention. Not classically handsome, instead he was all brute angles and solid planes that indicated both hard work and the ability to enjoy life. His was a lived-in face, that of a man who laughed often and knew pleasure. A sensualist.

And those piercing blue eyes, brutish hands, and tree-trunk thighs were sensualizing all over the place.

He tapped the woman’s ass once, twice, and issued a husky order. “Up, chérie.” She obeyed—of course!—turning to face Harper as she stood.

“Who the hell are you?” Tassels demanded. Really, she should be thanking Harper for putting a halt to this demeaning display.

“Chérie, don’t be rude to my guest. This is Harper.” Creases formed at the corners of DuPre’s cobalt-blue eyes. Incredibly attractive creases that reaffirmed her earlier impression of a man who enjoyed life. He nodded in her direction. “Glad you could make it.”

As if he had invited her.

At six and change, Remy towered above Harper’s five feet one and a half inches. Those hands, those thighs . . . everything about him was supersized.

“Come on back to the kitchen.” He headed off, leaving her no choice but to follow.

Suspicious eyes set in familiar Cougar faces bored into her as she marched through. Although her identity was well known, no one nodded in recognition. A basketball game on a huge wall-mounted TV riveted the attention of the crowd in one room, men so inured to strippers that they hadn’t even bothered to move next door for the show. Not even the skimpily clad women perched on the arms of sofas and armchairs could compete. A few tried their best, shoving surgically enhanced breasts into bearded faces, only to be met with cries of, “Baby, I’m tryin’ to watch the game!” Men.

No sign, thank God, of the one person she’d prayed would be absent.

Skipping ahead faster than her feet, her gaze collided with DuPre’s broad shoulders. Then traveled down a well-muscled back that tapered to slim hips and an ass that even Harper, who was on a strict man embargo, could appreciate. Purely from an aesthetic point of view, mind you. What woman wouldn’t like the sight of taut buns filling out a pair of jeans with such authority? She assumed DuPre worked lunges into his routine to get those perfect globes.

The bastard should be working those lunges in the workout room at Rebels HQ.

Nearing what must be the kitchen, her nostrils flared in anticipation. Something smelled wonderful—not DuPre, who probably smelled like an unwashed gym bag—but something hearty. Her stomach growled, annoyed with her for allowing it to subsist on that half-stale bagel at O’Hare seven hours ago. Don’t even try to tell her that hungry was not an emotion, because, like every woman, she felt that shit in her soul. However, the delicious scent of cooking was soon ruined by a more potent sensory experience: DuPre draped over another woman in front of the stove.

Poor guy couldn’t go more than a couple of minutes without female company, it seemed.

His tanned forearm, sprinkled with dark hair, curled around the waist of a woman in a vagina-length Cougars hockey jersey and high heels. His other hand held a wooden spoon at a tempting angle to her pouty red lips.

“Remeeee! You know I don’t do spicy.”

A low rumbled chuckle, laden with sex and menace, mocked her protest. “Now, I happen to know that’s a lie, Doreen, ’cause a little bird told me you like it plenty spicy. My mawmaw taught me how to make the perfect jambalaya and you ain’t even gonna give it a shot?” He squeezed her waist in encouragement, and she leaned in closer, brushing her breast against DuPre’s substantial chest. Harper could almost hear the sigh of pleasure Doreen’s hormones released at that touch.

Time to get down to business. Harper coughed. And went unnoticed.

    This rarely happened to her.

    “Mr. DuPre.”

Both of them turned, Doreen’s pirouette guaranteeing she touched an entire hectare of boobage against Remy’s thick bicep. DuPre’s expression was one of mild annoyance that Harper was still here.

“Doreen, go see if the boys are hungry. Tell ’em we got po’ boys and jambalaya.”

With a world-class pout, Doreen tottered out.

“You hungry, Harper?” DuPre asked with that lazy-as-shit drawl. She didn’t like the flutter in her belly when he said her name. Know what else she didn’t like? His inky-dark eyelashes, almost as though someone had painted them on around those blue eyes. Harper was immediately suspicious of a man with prettier eyelashes than her.

    “No,” she lied.

He ladled a serving of jambalaya into a bowl. “Surprised to see you here.”

“You’re on my dime, now, Mr. DuPre.”

“Call me Remy. Didn’t you get my message? I told you I’d meet up with the team in Philly.” He gestured with the bowl, and at her moue of discontent, he grabbed a fork. In a display that threatened to turn her annoyance into apoplectic, hangry levels, he teased a piece of shrimp in rice and raised it to his lips. After a chew, a swallow, and a look of near ecstasy that had Harper’s mouth watering—because she was hungry, she insisted—he spoke again.

“The boys wanted to throw me a party, so I figured one more day wouldn’t hurt. Been here a long time.”

She knew that. Five years was an age in hockey, which by its very nature required men to be ready to upend their lives at a moment’s notice as soon as a trade came in. DuPre had been traded six times since he was the number one draft pick seventeen years ago. His file said he’d never married, had never even come close, so he wouldn’t have the comfort of a wife or girlfriend to smooth over his move to Chicago. Unless Tassels or Doreen had her bags packed . . .

“It’s important you bond with the team sooner than later. There’s no time to waste.”

“Not sure what you’re expecting here, Harper.” The easy tease that had laced his voice was gone. His accent was punchier than she remembered from postgame TV interviews, Brooklyn by way of the Bayou. “You could have brought on anyone.”

“I need a leader. Someone who’s seen everything and can make something of—”

“Nothing? You need a miracle. It’s gonna take two years to rebuild. Minimum. You need money, because good players don’t come cheap. You need patience.”

Patience was for winners. She would lose everything if she didn’t employ drastic measures, because not only had her father screwed her over by not leaving her the team to run solo, he’d put another obstacle in her path. A time-sensitive requirement.

    “I’ve been patient.”

“Would it have killed you to exercise that patience for another year? Because your lack of it has fucked me over royally. You saw how close we came in May. The Cougars have the makings of a dynasty, and I planned to inaugurate it this season. What you’ve done is rip that chance out of my hands.” He slapped the bowl down on the counter with a bang.

Harper jumped, an involuntary reaction to his little temper tantrum. It was nothing, of course. Understandable, even. Every day she watched men fight over a rubber disc, violence seething from their pores, but she had always kept her distance from the players. She knew that would be impossible as acting GM. That she was going to have to face her deep-seated fears about being up close and personal with war-making machines that could break a woman in half.

Those demons set to gnawing in her chest, so she inhaled a deep breath and used an old therapy trick: act normal until the panic “gets bored.” She looked around. Normal, even homey, kitchen. Normal stockpot on the normal stove. Normal employee with normal muscles and normal . . . hair. Pretty awesome hair, actually. Mahogany brown and perfectly mussed, but not trying too hard. So many hockey players wore their hair long—salads, they called it—but not Remy DuPre. No straggle for him, just enough on top to allow for a decent finger rake. Not that she was in the market for a decent finger rake.

    The monsters went silent.

Well done, DuPre. Your awesome hair has just helped fight off my imminent panic attack.

He was watching her curiously. “Okay there, Harper?”

She squared her shoulders. “I’m fine. Just tired after my flight was delayed, the one I shouldn’t have had to take at all. I want you in Chicago tomorrow, and you’ll fly out with the team on Thursday. You won’t be swanning in like some diva in Philly. This isn’t how it’s going to work. You’re a Rebel now, and you play by my rules.”

The Rebels. What an incredible bunch of hockey players. Mix in 3 incredible female team owners and whew, what a series. Irresistible You is Remy and Harper's story. A sexy Cajun hockey player trying to make his dream come true of finally winning the Cup. A female team owner with a deadline to turn a crappy team around and make the playoffs or lose the team. Throw in some HOT chemistry and watch out for the steam. Remy and Harper can melt the ice. Kate tells a fantastic story. A must read.

Omg what a fantastic introduction to a new author and I’m really struggling to understand why I haven’t read anything by Kate Meader before. Irresistible You is is the first full length book in the Chicago Rebels Series and this series features 3 estranged sisters who have been left their fathers struggling Hockey franchise, problem is one of the terms of the will is they all work together... Harper Chase has always been her fathers second in command and this is her dream job, she will do what ever she needs to make this team successful, the first thing she does is buy veteran center Remy DuPre who is coming to the end of his career but he akso has one a dream and that’s to get a Stanley Cup win can these two help each other or are the odds stacked against them... What a great start to what looks like a brilliant series, the characters are strong and have depth and the storyline is believable, I laughed and I cried and did I mention it’s also one hot sizzling read. I can’t wait to read more about the Chase sisters and the Chicago Rebels and I will certainly be checking out previous books by this author.

This is the first book in the Chicago Rebels series by Kate Meader. It is the first book I have read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has an engaging storyline, entertaining characters and I can't wait to read the next story in this series. This is a charming and emotional story about three estranged stepsisters forced together by the dictates of their father's will. Their father was a critical man and now even in death, he has made their lives difficult. This is Harper's story. Harper is disappointed her father didn't leave the Chicago Rebels hockey team to her. Now she has to deal with two stepsisters she barely knows and they have to make all the decisions about the team together. Harper has been working for her father and with the team for years and she is now the acting general manager. Remy and Harper are brought together when Harper acquires Remy for the Chicago Rebels. Remy’s nickname is Jinx because he is considered the unluckiest guy in the NHL and he is not happy when he is traded to the Rebels. I really liked Remy. He has a great Cajun accent, is close to his family, loves to cook and is sensitive, caring and protective. When Harper first meets Remy she doesn't have a very high opinion of him but the more she gets to know him, the more she likes him. Harper and Remy have a lot of chemistry but because she is his boss, they fight their attraction. My only issue with this story, is there were times I had a difficult time liking Harper. Her father was a mean and heartless man and left all his daughters with issues. Harper can be cold and distant and doesn't always treat Remy well. Remy is always so patient and understanding with Harper and while I admire his patience, I didn't think she deserved it. I liked Harper’s two stepsisters and can't wait to read their stories in the upcoming books in this series. This is a fun and heartwarming story. I was given an advanced copy of this book to write an honest review for Netgalley and Cocktails and Books.

The set up to this book is pretty textbook sibling rivalry. Dad leaves the team to the three sisters instead of just Harper who is the one most likely to succeed with the team. Stir the pot by making the sisters be estranged. Add the big bad player, who is a jinx, to the soup and thicken.. Harper is strong willed and destined to succeed, but she still has her demons from the past. A past relationship with a hockey player that went wrong. But when Remy joins the picture the chemistry sizzles off the pages. A hard bodied player, Cajun, his family back home, his need to overcome his "jinx" reputation all these add up to a pretty great read. I have provided my honest review in exchange for the copy of the book received from Net Galley.

RATING 4.5 STARS Irresistible You is book one in the brand new series, Chicago Rebels, by Kate Meader. So, I might have learned something new about myself while reading this book. That I have a thing for hot Cajun men with huge hearts. Remy DuPre is otherwise known as Jinx, because he’s known as one of the unluckiest players in the NHL. All he’s ever wanted was to win the Stanley Cup. But it has always evaded him. Remy is getting older, his body just can’t take the abuse anymore. So this is supposed to be his last year. And so far, it’s been a stellar one with his current team. Until he got traded that is. And not just traded to any team. Traded to the Chicago Rebels. They are one of the very worst teams in the league. His dream of winning that cup just flew right out of the window. Harper Chase was raised to eat, sleep and dream hockey. Now her father has passed on. All Harper ever wanted when he was alive was a chance to show him that she could run the team, that she was every bit as tough as he was. But now he’s gone and he made sure to mess up her life, even from the grave. He split the team three ways, between she and her two half sisters, sisters she barely knows. If they can’t get the team to the top three in the playoffs, they lose everything. Remy was the Chicago Rebels last hope, Harper’s last hope. He was at the peak of his game. And Remy had a way about him. He could bring the team together, something they haven’t been able to do thus far. Remy, though, is furious Harper ruined the best year of his life, the best chance he’s had to win the cup. If Harper wants him to help this team to mend, to bring them together, there is something he wants in return. From the first time they met, there was something there between them, an electricity, a clashing of the wills and of the hearts. They both fight it. Harper is the team owner and Remy one of the players. It’s a conflict of interest, and so many other things. But they can’t resist the pull for long. “Of all the people for her libido to toggle on for, why did it have to be Remy DuPre?” Harper has ghosts, though, painful ghosts, that have forced her to build a huge wall around her heart to protect herself. Not to mention she is carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. She and her sisters own a hockey team, a man’s world. Everyone is watching every move they make. She has to be tough and that means not falling for one of the players. Remy, oh my Remy. Just wait until you meet this man. He is from New Orleans where all his family still lives. And this man has a huge family. On the ice Remy is unstoppable, a force to be reckoned with. But off the ice, he’s all gentleman. His momma raised him right. If a woman walks in, a man stands. He cooks for her, he woos her. This man had me swooning all over the place. He puts new meaning to the word swoon. And the chemistry between these two! It was explosive, it was beautiful, it was hot! “I speak and you think of sex?” “You exist and I think of sex.” I have only read one or two books by Kate Meader so I have to admit that it took me a bit to adjust to her writing style. But Remy Dupre pulled me in and there was nothing I could do about it. These two had obstacles, circumstances that held them back. But when they fell, they fell hard. Together they were better, stronger. They just had to figure that out and let each other in. One of them figured this out a little faster

Kate Meader's steaming up the ice with "Irresistible You". This first installment of the Chicago Rebels series features a French-speaking Cajun hockey player and a tough female owner. As usual Kate Meader brings a compelling storyline and engaging characters. The Heroine's been groomed to take over the hockey team after her father's death. Unfortunately the old man had other ideas. In his will he left the team to Harper and her two half-sisters, who she barely knows. They must run it as a unit; cooperating in total agreement. In any male dominated workplace a woman has to work ten-times as hard to be considered almost good enough. With three women at the helm the Chicago Rebel's front office is the punchline for every Sports section joke. Harper needs the perfect player to get them from last place to the play-offs. Remy "Jinx" DuPre the unluckiest player in the NHL. "Irresistible You" has a wonderful cast of hockey playing cast members sexy, troubled, and charming. Kate Meader rolls out this first installment with rich storylines, compelling conflicts, potential pairings, magnetic romance, and steamy sex. Remy's a charming laid-back Cajun Alpha hero with mad cooking skills and a sexy French vocabulary. Harper starts off not easy to like but shapes up quickly. She becomes sympathetic and likable and you will totally root for her to realize her dreams. Not just to win the guy but to get real sisters out of the deal. Remy's a charming characters not only for Harper but for his teammates as well. The Chicago Rebels series looks like it's going to be just as good as Kate Meader's Hot in Chicago series. If you haven't read it yet; the Hot in Chicago series should be your next One-Click-Binge. 4.5 Stars I can tell you after reading this book I'm hooked on the series. I didn't want this book to end it was so good. It's a hockey romance and right now that's one of the genres I'm devouring so this book is right up my alley. I loved that the owners of the team are three sisters. They have to find their way with each other though thanks to dear old dad. Can I say I'm not a fan of him. Harper is putting a lot on her shoulders and doesn't believe in herself like she should. She's in for one heck of a surprise when she signs Remy. He's going to change her life like she never imagined. Remy is great hero material in just the the little things he does for Harper, but he is going to have his work cut out for him because he's sleeping with the boss. This book has a great combination of humor, heart, heat, and story. I'm highly anticipating the next book in the series.

In Irresistible You, Kate Meader takes on the world of hockey. In standard Meader style, she has included a twist, the team owners are women. In a final act of defiance, Harper Chase’s father leaves the Chicago Rebels to her, and her two half-sisters. He never believed she was up to the challenge of running a pro-team. Though Chase viewed this as punishment for Harper, he actually did the best thing for her ever – he gave her a family. Don’t get me wrong, the sisters have a rocky road and they are only getting started. This relationship is really at the core of this series and I look forward to seeing it play out. I was originally in this for the hot hockey players, but I stayed for the great dynamics and watching a trio of powerful women take on the establishment. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

A fun, hot, and sexy read that had me captivated from the beginning to the end. Remy DuPre is "jinxed"and all he wants is to lift the cup, the Stanley Cup, above his head before he ends his career and that is coming to an end. Just as he thinks this is his year, he is traded to a team that has the worst, or second worst, standing. Harper Carson lives and breathes hockey and all she has ever wanted was to run the Chicago Rebels and now she has her chance. The only thing in her way, her two half sisters who now own it with her and have to make all the decisions with her, oh and the stipulation in her father's will they must make the playoffs or sell. From the bottom to the top in one season. Game on! Harper brings on Remy who doesn't want to work until he strikes a bargain to be traded mid season but chemistry, good food, sexy cajun, good hockey, and lots of fun what could go wrong...or right... I highly recommend this one! This is a new to me author and I have discovered I have a book of her's in an anthology I'm going to go back and read. This will not be the last one and I'm definitely looking forward to the next one in this series. Bring on more sexy hockey players! **Received this ARC from the publisher via NetGalley**

Harper Chase has tried for years to prove herself worthy of being part of the Rebels franchise, a place her father never supported. Even in death he’s thwarted her again, giving ownership of the team equally to his three daughters instead of just to her, and making their successful run at the playoffs a condition in the will for not selling off the team to the highest bidder. She’s determined to do what she can to make it happen, including adding Remy DuPre to the roster. He’s a long time NHL player with a strong following and leadership qualities that she hopes will show the team that she’s serious about investing in their future. Remy ‘Jinx’ DuPre is jinxed indeed. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride when it comes to winning the Stanley Cup, finding out he’s been traded to the poorly performing Chicago Rebels for what could be his final season on the ice is very frustrating. With the diminutive but feisty Harper on his case to lead the way he strikes a bargain with her – three months of solid gamesmanship in return for a trade to a team that has a real chance at winning the Stanley Cup so he can retire with pride. But as he shows the team what he’s capable of, he also finds himself drawn to Harper and her dedication. A mutual sexual attraction between Harper and Remy soon leads to some steamy off the ice action. But will the bargain they’ve struck lead to a loss for the Rebels and for love? I love reading about nice guy heroes, and Remy’s down home charm and gentlemanly manner put him firmly at the top of my book boyfriend shelf. Though he’s initially upset over the trade, for clear personal reasons, once he’s on board with Harper’s plan he gives the team his all. He also makes it clear that if Harper is interested, he’s all for a little one on one time with her. He’s a hero in pursuit in a subtle but determined way. He understands the repercussions should news of a relationship between them leak out, and how important it is for her to maintain a spotless reputation while she works long hours and puts her heart and soul into making the team a success. Family is of utmost importance to Remy, and his visits to New Orleans never pass without a trip home. A protective, caring man and a generous lover – he’s real hero material. Harper hides her insecurities well, but a past relationship with a hockey player that turned violent makes her sometimes nervous in the face of the hulking men who dominate the locker room. But with Remy, she knows she has found someone she can trust. Her dedication to the team and her determination to work with her sisters despite their difficult past are worthy of respect. I really liked her character and her drive to succeed. But I also liked seeing her emotional and passionate side with Remy. They share some steamy love scenes that make them both realize how difficult it will be to part at the end of their three months. Harper is determined to stick to her end of the bargain no matter what her feelings are for Remy, and how much she will miss him. It’s up to Remy to determine what it is he really wants for his future, for his career and after. With her debut sports romance, the author does a great job of showing hockey from all sides – the players, management, locker room discussions and on ice scenes. The team finds that Remy’s arrival gives them a new spirit and puts them on the right track. The series will continue with Harper’s two sisters getting in on the game and I can’t wait to read those too!

I love a good hockey romance and Irresistable You is a great start to this hockey series. Harper is such a strong heroine who has had a crappy father and mother and not much family to speak of. Remy is the total opposite. He knows what it's like to have the love and support of a great family and wants nothing more than to be Harper's person. They start of as enemies, but quickly find that there is so much heat beneath the fiery looks and heated words. Harper and Remy were hot and I loved how Remy truly did what he needed to do to become Harper's person. Sometimes what you think you want isn't always the grand prize when you get there. Great story! I really enjoyed it.

4 Stars! Irresistible You is book #1 in Kate Meader's new Chicago Rebels series. Meet the Heroine & Hero: Harper Chase is one of the new owners of the hockey team, The Chicago Rebels, and is the current acting General Manager. Remy DuPre is a top player in the NHL, but is currently down on his luck & is known as the unluckiest player in the league, hence his nickname "Jinx". The Story: When their father passes away, the Chase sisters inherit his failing hockey team. Their father was not a good man (that's putting it mildly) & he has basically set them up for failure, there are stipulations - if they can't turn the team around & get them to the play-offs, they loose it all. Harper is not happy about the situation, as she is the only sister who has ever been involved with the team & did not expect to have to share it with sisters she doesn't even know or jump through hoops to keep hold of it. Harper decides that her best chance of getting her team to the play-offs is to acquire NHL player, Remy DuPre. She believes that he can help turn her team around & get them where they need to be so she works out a trade deal with his current team. This does not make Remy happy in any way, shape or form. He has accepted this will be his last season in the NHL & he wanted to go out on top, holding the Stanley Cup up over his head & this trade has pretty much ensured that that won't be happening. He's getting older (in hockey years), has been taking a lot of hits & is ready to start the next phase of his life, which is working on a family of his own. Harper & Remy bump heads from the get go & are constantly bickering & sniping each other, but there is always that simmering sexual chemistry that neither can really deny. He doesn't want to be there & she has to wrangle him into actually participating with the team. Remy totally flakes the first game he has with the team, acting like he's just out for a leisurely, fun skate & not putting in any real effort. At this point Harper works out a deal with Remy, I don't want to spoil anything, but this deal gives Remy an end date with the team & what he feels is a chance to go all the way for The Cup. From here, the dynamic between the two starts to change. They are on much friendlier terms with each other & the sexual tension builds to incredible heights. Both are struggling not to act on it since Harper is not Remy's type & Remy is off limits to Harper since she is his boss. Harper has had a difficult romantic past & is afraid to really put herself out there again, especially with a professional hockey player. Remy however is determined to make her his & to crack her hard shell. Sparks, fun banter & hot sexy times ensue! The Verdict: LOVE this book! I'm hooked to this series & cannot wait to read about the other 2 sisters & also watch how the relationship grows between all of them. This is my first book by author Kate Meader & I will definitely be reading more of her. The witty banter & sparks flying between these 2 characters was so much fun & I was glued to my iPad from beginning to end. The love scenes were hot as all get out as well. I loved how once Remy became determined to make Harper his, he did everything he could to understand her & get under her defenses, he was so sweet & so SEXY! Harper was an amazing lead female character, amazingly strong. Kate Meader's characters were multi dimensional & I really enjoyed this read. I would definitely recommend this book & this author to everyone!

Irresistible You and the characters were irresistible to me! Harper Chase has now found herself at the helm of the hockey team, The Chicago Rebels. She was VP with her late father, but that was in name only. Now, she is trying to make this lackluster team into champions. That is easier said than done. She has to share the responsibilities with her estranged half-sisters, Isobel and Violet. They have until the end of the season to prove themselves, or they will lose it to a consortium and a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin. Granted, they will get their inheritance, but Harper wants to prove her father and the media wrong about a woman’s capability of running a hockey team. Her solution: acquiring center, Remy “Jinx” Dupre. He has his own goals…getting the cup before retiring. Harper has just taken that out of his grasp. This was to be his last season. The two don’t like each other at all, but underneath is a whole lot of lust. After much disagreement, the two come up with a business arrangement that will benefit them more. What they didn’t count on was falling in love! Harper is determined to prove her ability in a man’s world, and because of this and her troubled relationship with her late father, she has built defensive walls around her heart to protect herself. Underneath that, she is still the hurt little girl her father rejected. She rationalized her loneliness as independence and “turned it into a badge of honor.” As her and Remy’s relationship blurs the lines between professional and personal, she begins to crave his protection instead of always taking care of herself. “His kiss would be protective. His body covering her would keep her safe.” The question is will she be able to do that. Remy is quite irresistible! He’s got it all…looks, sexiness, a naughty mouth, and he is a gentleman. Who could resist that! He fights his feelings for Harper, but there’s something about her he can’t resist. He wants to protect her and take care of her. Problem is: they don’t know whether to kiss or kill each other. He begins to slowly see the vulnerable side to Harper, and she begins to see he is very different than who he first appeared to be. He has such a different relationship with his parents and siblings, and I think Harper craves that with her own sisters. This was most definitely a sexy yet sweet romance, but it was also a story about family. Harper never had that. She does recall the first time falling in love was with her baby sister, Isobel. However, her father ruined any chance the two had to bond. Now, they have a sister neither one knew existed until several years before. Violet is completely different than the two of them. Their getting to know each other and care about one another was one of my favorite parts of the book. Cannot wait until the next one in the series! ***Read and Reviewed for Devilishly Delicious Book Reviews***

Kate Meader never fails to deliver for me. I love a hockey book and to be honest I was worried that I wouldn't love it as much as I love her firefighter book because I have read a TON of hockey books. I should feel silly to have ever even had such a thought. Irresistible You was amazing. Harper and Remy were more than I could have imagined. Remy was to die for, with his bulking frame, tough demeanor and penchant for breaking out his French at just the right moment, the Cajun hockey player hit all my buttons just right. For her part Harper was equally tough but soft when needed. Being boss and employee put them in a tough spot and watching them tread the waters of a fling when both knew it was a bad choice was hot and intense. If you a hockey fan than this is a book you don't want to miss. These two have an undeniable chemistry and the circumstances forcing them to keep secret only made everything more exciting. I am a long time Kate Meader fan and this is just one more in a string of amazing books from her. Grab it today! ~miranda

Provocative, passionate, and red-hot! Irresistible You is a lighthearted, hockey romance featuring the delicious Cajun, Remy who finds himself traded to a losing team just as he's thinking about retirement, and the ballsy, competent Harper who finally has the career she's always wanted but with some unexpected strings attached. The writing is effortless. The characters, including all the supporting characters, are fun, intriguing, and downright swoon-worthy. And the plot is an engaging mix of genuine emotion, sexy banter, palpable attraction, smouldering chemistry, hockey, food, and of course some sizzling romance. What a fantastic way to start a new series. Irresistible You is a smart, seductive story with great character development, and a smoking hot cover that will undeniably leave you wanting more.

**4 Stars** This was my first book by Kate Meader and it wont' be my last. I loved everything about Remy and Harper's story. They didn't want to be attracted to each other, but sometimes you just can't help what happens. Watching these two both try to get what they want was comical at times and overall sexy, because they were resisting the one thing that they both wanted, each other. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and you can't help but love watching them figure out what is going on between them. Harper doesn't want to give in because he's her employee and Remy doesn't want to give in because he doesn't want to stay on the team, he wants the cup. This had to be one of my favorite hockey books of 2017. I can't wait to see what else Kate brings us in the series.

I wasn't sure I was going to like Harper.  When you first meet her she's a little harsh and brittle but Meader makes sure that you understand that most of it is a front.  She's under a lot of stress, with a lot of insecurities from her youth, and being thrown into the same orbit as her half-sisters and the man that she can't have isn't helping.  Before too long I found myself with all sorts of feels for the poor woman.  But you can't feel too bad for her once Remy turns his attention her way! The youngest with a whole passel of sisters and nieces, Remy was guaranteed to be perfect hero material ... even if he is surrounded by testosterone as a hockey player :)  He's patient and understanding, but also with a streak of charming bad boy in him.  He's the perfect balance of Alpha and sensitive.  He's good for Harper, supportive & caring, and he keeps her life from overtaking her.   My only trouble was with the ending because it's just hard when Harper has been so adamant about how she is perceived.  But you knew it was going to work out some way and I'm pretty sure that this is the only way it would have been satisfying.   Definitely an engrossing read and I'm so intrigued by the other sisters & where there stories are going.  Meader did an amazing job of giving this group of people complexity and depth.  You can't help but want to get to know all of their secrets! *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s. ***

Goal! This book had me smiling, laughing, melting and swooning with every turn of the page. I was hooked from the beginning. I thought there was a great pace and build throughout, as well as excellent character development as the two main characters come together. I loved the writing, and the in depth cast of characters. You’ve got hunky hockey players galore.
I loved Harper Chase and Remy Dupre so much. They had a nice amount of tension and angst. Great animosity and verbal sparring that turned into really hot chemistry. It was fun, playful and I could feel the want and need between the two.
Remy Dupre, is the perfect, smart ass, sexy bad boy. I loved his New Orleans drawl and the fact that he spoke French. How could a women not appreciate every thing he had to offer. He sure appreciated Harper Chase, and all she had to offer, with her beauty, luminous skin, and a mouth that could tempt a man to forget everything that was good for him.
But Harper Chase had plenty of reasons for not wanting a relationship, too much to lose as far as her reputation as a owner in the league, too busy, career focused and she would never allow another man to hurt her. But her attraction to Remy was crazy undeniable, his touch set her skin on fire, his voice was like pure warm honey in her veins and he would not leave her alone.
So what happens when Harper cant say no to Remy any longer? Will she trade him before it comes to that? You won’t believe … sorry you are going to need to read to find out how this ends. Loved it!

Kate Meader has tickled your palate with her Hot in the Kitchen series. She's set your heart ablaze with her Hot in Chicago series. Now, she's going to introduce you to the world of hockey with her Chicago Rebels series. Irresistible You, the first full-length novel in the Chicago Rebels series, pairs a star hockey player with his female team owner/general manager, in a forbidden relationship guaranteed to make you fall in love. Harper Chase knows hockey. She's spent her whole life around it and is desperate to prove that a female can be just as effective in the front office as any man. She’s bided her time, sitting next to her father, and thinking the team would pass to her one day. To her surprise, her father dies and leaves the team not only to her but to her two half sisters as well. This turn of events is not good but Harper can handle it. Too bad the old man had more up his sleeves. Not only do the three sisters who have never gotten along have to run the team together, the second to last place team must make it to the playoffs by the end of the season or it will be sold to someone else. Remy DuPre has been in the league for seventeen years. This number-one draft pick has been traded six times in his career. However, the Stanley Cup has eluded him. Remy is looking to retire this year, and thinks that he is finally with a team that can get him what he’s been working his entire career for. Remy gets blindsided when he gets traded to the Chicago Rebels. Remy makes it known that he isn’t happy with his trade and chooses to not play his best. When Harper confronts him, the two strike a deal. But at the same time, they realize that they have an undeniable attraction to each other. The two start up a secret relationship that has Remy knocking Harper’s socks off in the bedroom and out. The best part is that Remy woos her with his culinary cooking skills and food from his beloved hometown of New Orleans. Irresistible You was so much more than I ever expected. I can literally sing my praises for Remy and Harper for weeks, if not months. The secondary characters are a-m-a-z-i-n-g! The best part is that all of them are going to have their own stories!!!! Kate has definitely set up high expectations for this series and I’m looking forward to finding out what she has in store for her characters and her readers. **Received a copy from the publisher and voluntarily reviewed.**

I'm not gonna lie. When Kate Meader's Hot in Chicago series finished, I shed a tear or two. So when I spotted this title in my email, I had to read it. After pushing through a slightly slow start, Ms. Meader's trademark snark and scorching heat snared me and I couldn't put the book down. Irresistible You follows Harper, a woman who has spent her life trying to make a name for herself in the world of ice hockey team management. Making her team-owner father proud had been a prime goal...until he died and made it his last wish to screw her over. Harper must share the team she's bled for with two newly discovered half-sisters. Success has never been more important and this time it's for her and only her. An arrogant, stupidly hot Cajun named Remy stands in Harper's way. Problem is, she needs him to save her team. More importantly, she can't get mixed up with a player. But fighting the instant attraction to him may be harder than making her deceased father's failing team a success. Remy has mere months left before he intends to retire from hockey forever. All he wants is to win the championship and clear the "Jinx" curse everyone believes he carries. But his best chance is stolen when he's traded to a failing team. Brokering a deal with the ice-queen co-owner may get him what he wants. Avoiding temptation is another story. Maybe just maybe he'll get more than a championship out of the experience. If you like your heroes sweet as pie, able to cook a mean one, and steam up the sheets and your heroines understandably frosty, grab this fun read. With secondary characters who all have developed personalities and intriguing storylines, Chicago Rebels is a satisfying next series after Hot in Chicago.
