One year ago Isabella Mitchell moved to Kentucky to live with her cousin Noah.
Like her mother at her age, Isabella is drawn to men she shouldn't be with.
When she travels back to North Carolina to see her parents, she and her ex have a one-night stand. She knows they are through, but sometimes what happens in the bedroom doesn't always stay in the bedroom.
Eight weeks later Isabella finds out she's pregnant. She can't tell anyone, because she knows how upset they'll be. While struggling with decisions, Isabella catches the attention of the mysterious Rusty Tillman, a ranch hand for the Mitchell family. He's handsome, hardworking, and ten years older. When Isabella refuses him, he takes it upon himself to claim the child as his own. Since she doesn't want the family knowing the real father she goes along with the lie. The only problem is that Rusty wants more.

Can Isabella open her heart to a new love, or will she go back to the only man she's ever loved?

Isabella by Jennifer Foor the the second book in the newest Mitchell-Healy series following Noah. This book can be read as a standalone but the author cautions that you’ll enjoy it more if they are read in order and I agree. Writing this review is going to be hard. I’m going to be honest and right to the point, for as much as I loved Noah (book one) I did not like Isabelle. The reason? Isabelle. I just could not muster any love for our heroine, Isabelle. I tried to like her, I waited for her to redeem herself, but it never happened. Everything I disliked in this book was directly related to Isabelle. Her actions. Her attitude. Her treatment of people, especially our hero. First Isabelle ends book one and starts this book a complete moron. She’s running back to a loser of an ex-boyfriend, but acts as if the fact EVERYONE has told her he’s bad news only she knows the real him. I get she’s young, but she’s also apparently stupid. Really Isabelle just came off like a bit of a B-word. She’s dramatic, thinks she’s better than others. Even when other main characters (our hero, Rusty) is having an issue she can somehow make it about her. There are so many s words I want to use to describe her. Selfish, stuck up, and self-centered for just a few. Plus Isabelle is so wishy-washy. She goes from thinking Rusty is a stalker (okay, he might be a little bit) to basically jumping him, then yelling at him and telling him it can’t happen again…. except it does, again and again. Each time my hate for Isabelle just grew a little bit more. Oh and I can’t forget all the times she reminds Rusty of his status as “the help”. As for our hero, Rusty I spent most of the book just feeling for him. Rusty has a horrible back history that is just heartbreaking. But then to top it off he has to fall in love with Isabelle who treats him horribly and expects him to just take it and be nice time and time again. I will admit after a while it got to me, Rusty keeps going back to Isabelle even though she is continuously rejecting him. At some point, respect the woman and just move on. Let her come to you or something. There were parts of this book I loved though. For the most part I liked Rusty. The writing is good and the story flows well in terms of plot. I can’t say I enjoyed a better portion of this book, but once our couple finally seem to get it together I found myself enjoying more. By the last 10% I was really into the story and I did leave it on a happy vibe, even if I still hated Isabelle. Honestly, my hands down favorite character was Isabelle’s Dad. He was hilarious, it kind of made me want to read his story. I definitely enjoyed Noah more than Isabelle‘s story, but if you also enjoy book one, then I think you should give this one a shot as well. I was given an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
