About the Author

Nazzie Pater-Rov was born to an American convert mother and Iranian immigrant father. She was raised as a Muslim in Washington, DC. She later came to learn that her mother's 10th great grandfather was the first settler of Brooklyn, NY and was the son of a Dutch convert. As a teacher, this story encouraged her to research and teach Muslim students about the history of Islam in America. It is her hope that this series of books will provide a sense of identity and pride through the narrative of a Muslim American heritage.
