This volume presents cantata texts, song cycle words, and previously unpublished sacred poems by Richard Leach. It includes "Blessing Without Borders" (a Christmas cantata), "The Book of Waters", and "For the Healing of the Nations" (on world peace), created with composer Curt Oliver and performed in St. Paul (MN), Elizabethtown (KY) and other cities; "28 Views of Jesus", a double cycle of poems for Christmas and Easter; and "One Step Then Another," an imaginative song cycle on Jesus' healing of the paralyzed man lowered through his roof (as told in Mark 2). Richard Leach is a leading contemporary writer of words for new hymns and anthems. He began writing hymns in 1987, while serving as a pastor in New England. Since then, his work has been published in the United States, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong and Scotland, in denominational and independent publications. He was a United Church of Christ pastor from 1978 to 1999, and is now a lay member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
